It is essentially a piece of mind-spinning but also highly satisfying Dub mixing it with chords that are partly derived from Jazz and partly from the kind of harmonic language I would often associate with contemporary classical (elements of whole tone and similarly configured chords) although the feel is nothing like either. I hear distant echoes of early Gang of Four and pre-Sweetest Girl Scritti going on, perhaps alongside some of the experimental Ruts B-sides [and subsequent Ruts DC moments] but the sounds here are much more contemporary, much less scratchy and have an irresistible resonance.
