Give life to your heart with the remembrance of Allah’s Name.  “The likeness of he who remembers Allah and he who does not remember Allah is like the living and the dead,” said the Noble Prophet peace be upon him.  The dhikr includes group Quranic recitation in the ancient ‘tahazzabt’ style, supplicating by the 99 Names, various salawat upon the Prophet peace be upon him, qasidas (poems of praise sung in melodious voice), and adhkar from the Book and the Sunna.

Shaykh Muhammad ibn al-Habib al-Filâlî
(1295/1876-1391/1971)

His lineage:
He is the Sufi sharif, teacher, guide to Allah and shaykh of the Darqawi tariqa, Sayyidi Muhammad ibn al-Habib ibn as-Siddiq al-Amghari al-Idrisi al-Hasani.

His ancestors were based in Marrakech, and he is related to Moulay ‘Abdullah Amghar*, who is buried at Tamsloht , near Marrakech, a descendant of a line which goes back to ‘Ali and Hasan. This branch of the family emigrated to Tafilalat and settled there. His father emigrated to Fes, settled there and his descendants still live there.

His intellectual legacy:
He wrote a diwan which is called “The Desire of the Travelling Murids and the Gift of the Wayfaring Gnostics”. It has been published twice. He wrote a commentary on the Hafidha of the Shaykh Sidi Muhammad al’Arabi al-’Alawi al-Madghari which contains supplications of the Prophet, ayats of Qur’an and some of the Shadhili hizbs. He also wrote a commentary on the Salat al-Mashishiyya.

His scholarly position:
He was a scholar and faqih with great perception. He was familiar with many sciences, while being particularly proficient in tafsir and tasawwuf.

Oh Seeker Of Annihilation In God

Send your blessings upon the light, Ahmad. Light of the homes, oh Muhammad. Oh you who were created from the Light of his Lord. Oh you who were named before birth.

Greetings to my love. You, who reside in the center of my heart. And by passionate love, you have become enough for me. This is how my Lord would have it.

Nobody has been tested like me. I‟m the small aqıq stone (i.e. chosen) in my family. And Ive only succeeded by admitting my ignorance. Oh breeze of the lovers, come cool us off.

Whoever gets a glance at the Qatba mountains has taken in the scent of true love. Whoever doesnt smell the scent of love, there is no medicine for him.

My heart is attached to them. In their ups and downs. I don‟t have what they have. Raise me up to them on the day I die.

How much do I turn the pages of his excellent qualities. Night and day. Land and sea [his qualities would fill], what can

Oh, would that my eye could see. Or that I could be with them. We guard this beauty then give thanks. I am a guard and I attend to them obediently.

Our Lord grant us a reward in this life and the next and protects from the torture of the Fire.

Have mercy upon your servant, heal my broken state.
I have come to implore by Abu Bakr, 
and the one whose justice encompasses all existing,
And 'Ali, with whom Allah is well pleased, and the martyr 'Uthman.

Unite (us with) your love, oh you owners of rank,
Grant the gift of your affection, break my separation!
I have melted in love for you, and my patience is dissolved,
the estrangment within me a flame consuming sun and moon

Burdah Chapter 1 - Imam al-Busiri

A resource for traditional qasidas (poems, odes), naats and nasheeds taken from around the world, most of which are written by various spiritual masters of the sacred path of sufism (tassawuf - the Islamic science of spirituality).

'The aim of qasidas or spiritual odes is to worship the creator, by turning the hearts to the Divine, who says 'And when My servants ask you of Me, truly I am close' (Quran 2:186).

The purpose of qasidas in the Sufi path is to convey the experiential gnosis of forebears to subsequent generations, for what comes from the heart goes into the heart, and most of the poets who wrote them where Shaykhs of the spiritual paths (tariqa) who addressed their words to those with experiences like themselves or to aspirants.

The person who can benefit from such qasidas is someone whose way lies with the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), and whose heart lies with Allah'
