Qasida Muhammadiya, East African style.  This is not my recording - I haven't recorded it, nor do I claim ownership.  I found this file in an old folder that I was cleaning out on a very old hard drive.

I don't know who the group is, or exactly where this is being performed.  All I know, is that *THIS* is what a mawlid should sound like.

Hadratul quddoos, maHyaa linnufoos, jannatul firdaws

The Holy Presence, the reviver of the souls, the highest heaven

The sublime state of the Gnostics, facing each other upon thrones of honour

أَبْنَاءُ الْحَضْرَة    لَهُمُ الْبُشْرَى   مِنْ قَبْلِ الْأُخْرَى
يَا سِيدِي مُعَزَّزِينَا يَا سِيدِي مُعَزَّزِينَا
-Abnaa-ul Hadrah, lahumul bushraa, min qablil -ukhraa
Yaa seedee mu’azzazeenaa yaa seedee mu’azzazeenaa
The Children of the Presence, for them is the glad tiding given to them before the next world
O My Master they are honoured, O My Master they are honoured

عِبَادُ الرَّحْمَانْ  فِي كُلِّ زَمَانْ   لَهُمُ الْأَمَانْ

A resource for traditional qasidas (poems, odes), naats and nasheeds taken from around the world, most of which are written by various spiritual masters of the sacred path of sufism (tassawuf - the Islamic science of spirituality).

'The aim of qasidas or spiritual odes is to worship the creator, by turning the hearts to the Divine, who says 'And when My servants ask you of Me, truly I am close' (Quran 2:186).

The purpose of qasidas in the Sufi path is to convey the experiential gnosis of forebears to subsequent generations, for what comes from the heart goes into the heart, and most of the poets who wrote them where Shaykhs of the spiritual paths (tariqa) who addressed their words to those with experiences like themselves or to aspirants.

The person who can benefit from such qasidas is someone whose way lies with the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), and whose heart lies with Allah'
