رضي الله عن سيدي الشاغوري

O master of my heart, Apostle of God, most noble and respected
Take me by the hand
I have no one but you
And I rely upon no one but you
You are the light of guidance that is hidden in every creature
And you are the essence of all goodness that unfolds upon this earth and in the heavens
O, perfect pillar of support that I rest on!
You are, without doubt, the Helper of all of creation, every single one, 
and you are the guide of all humanity, 
You are the one who never waivers and is always there, always supportive!
O you who stands alone, unique, in the exalted position 
of praising God, the Unique, Who was not born and does not give birth!
O you from whose fingers poured springs of fresh water
so that an entire army could quench its thirst with your light and assistance!
I testify that whenever a calamity befalls me, 
whenever I fall on hard times, 
I say: O master of my heart, my pillar of support, my friend! 
Be my savior in the Presence of the King of Kings, the Lord, 
and ask Him to forgive me for my slip-ups, 
and to grant me that which is beyond my greatest hopes!
O Beloved Apostle of God, look upon me with satisfaction always and forever, 
and always cover up my faults out of your kindness and grace. 
And show me your sweet and perfect affection 
so that I will be encompassed by your kind pardon for all my mistakes,
because I turn to no one else but you, master of my heart and owner of my soul.
I seek the salvation offered by you, the chosen one who God selected 
to traverse the heavens, to witness the Essence of the One and Unique God.
The Lord of all beauty, who raises us up in beauty, is the One Who created you.
And I have found no one like you, in all of creation - no one!
You are the best of all creation, the noblest of all the Messengers sent by God, 
you are the precious treasure of all creation, and their guide to spiritual maturity.
In you I seek salvation and refuge, 
with the hope that God will forgive me - and it is my conviction that He will!
And praising you will be the sweetness of my existence 
as long as I live.
Your love is the greatest means to the Grace of God, the King of all the universe!
May He always knit me to you, with the purest of bonds and connections,
all my life long, and beyond, boundlessly!
And may He tie me to your family, and to your friends, the noblest of all humanity,
and to all those who follow in your light and love, trying their very best,
eternally.

The people that, in darkness dwell
A glorious light have seen;
God’s prophet now to them hath come

Of prophecy the seal.

Thou wast sent to reveal.

For thou, the burden dids’t remove,
Idolatry’s fell rod,
And in thy day the idols fell
Before the sword of God.

To bless Arabia and the world
Most surely thou was’t raised.
We’ll sing thy praises evermore,
Our Mustafa the praised.

His head is grand and his beard is thick * His chest is broad and full of wisdom

His appearance splendid, his color white * His whiteness tinged with redness (1)

Our Prophets teeth are bright, straight and even * His speech most clear and eloquent

His eye-lids rimmed with black as if with kohl; he looks majestic * The intense blackness of his pupils adds to his perfection

His eyebrows fine and curved, his face round and beautiful * His joints are large and his palms wide and generous (2)

His hair is intensely black * It reaches his earlobes but does not exceed them

His nose is like a sword in the light * His forehead like a full moon in the dark

His neck like that of a statue, white and pure * Perfect and complete is his moral character

He walks as if descending from an incline * And that is from his strength

His voice one of the finest voices * He can make thousands hear him, just like hundreds

(2) His joints were large and strong, indicating great physical strength

Sheikh.Nuh sings Ode of al-Shaghouri RZ

A resource for traditional qasidas (poems, odes), naats and nasheeds taken from around the world, most of which are written by various spiritual masters of the sacred path of sufism (tassawuf - the Islamic science of spirituality).

'The aim of qasidas or spiritual odes is to worship the creator, by turning the hearts to the Divine, who says 'And when My servants ask you of Me, truly I am close' (Quran 2:186).

The purpose of qasidas in the Sufi path is to convey the experiential gnosis of forebears to subsequent generations, for what comes from the heart goes into the heart, and most of the poets who wrote them where Shaykhs of the spiritual paths (tariqa) who addressed their words to those with experiences like themselves or to aspirants.

The person who can benefit from such qasidas is someone whose way lies with the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), and whose heart lies with Allah'
