Recorded with Sam Ford At Tone City Studios. After discussions on what gear we were to use became final. An Orange AD30 plus the cab, A Fender BlackFace reverb and a lovely Blue Fender Stratocaster. We used sam's very used precision bass, through the enviable array of vintage inputs, compressors and the like. the lovely Vintage Rogers drum kit that resides at the studio combined with a very special pencil mic gave us that drum feel we'd been searching for. This song came from nearly two years of playing around with various feels and variants of different parts of the song until myself and Tom assembled our friends and started bringing them to life in the band room. this live band room feel that this single now has, is the result of what happens when musicians play in earnest together in the same room. All this after Tom and I pondered toiled with the song for a long time

Max & the Electric is the collaboration of two lads from Perth, Western Australia, James Stefanuto and Tom O'Reilly. Single 'City Lover' and the rest of the upcoming release were recorded and produced by the dashing Sam Ford (Abbe May, The Silents) at 'Tone City Studio’ in Perth. Their sound is melody driven, groove laden and influenced by the likes of Fleetwood Mac, The Beach Boys, Phoenix and that sound people make when they take a bite of their favourite tasty treat.
