We welcome an immensely talented young DJ and producer to our Local Selection, as Fionn O'Regan aka FYuN steps up to the controls with a 25 track mix consisting of 100% unreleased music.

Fionn O'Regan or FYuN is a 23 year old DJ and producer based in Cork. Through his hard work and dedication FYuN has quickly made a name for himself at the forefront of the electronic music scene in the city. Before the pandemic caused havoc in Ireland and across the globe, FYuN became a regular in the Cork techno scene, sharing the booth with some of the finest DJs in the country.

Launching the Elision collective with Dave O’Neill and Jack Devine in early 2018, the team held a monthly residency in Cork's electronic capital, Dali Cork. With the nighttime industry brought to a stand till early in 2020,  FYuN has kept a strong focus on developing his own productions and unique sound, striving to incorporate the late 90s and early 00s looping techno sounds to his own style.

Taking inspiration from artists such as Bryan Zentz, Chris Liebing and Guy McAffer to name a few, this 100% unreleased mix shows just how deeply the late 90s and early 00s techno has played such a pivotal role in developing FYuN's sounds and mixing styles that we hear today.

For the next hour, whack this mix on full volume and enjoy this carefully crafted mix of original techno from a producer that will no doubt be a serious player in the Irish techno scene for years to come.

Local Selection 131: FYuN [100% Unreleased Mix]

My track on the Amniote x Ute Fundraiser Compilation. 
All the proceeds will be donated to The Red Van: a volunteer-run NGO working with harm reduction and human rights for street based sex workers in Copenhagen.

"Sidewinder" is my reptilian alias for Mama Snake's label, Amniote Editions. All artists are invited to create their own reptilian alter ego for the project. My last release there was the "Ripple Effect" EP in 2019. I first met her in Autumn 2018 in Copenhagen to play at Jolene, as well as attend in-person sessions for the mastering+lacquer cut for the record. We mastered with Joel at Six Bit Deep and cut the lacquer with Hari (HVAD) at Kommunal Dubplate. Proper stuff. Few weeks later we shared the lineup on Sustain Release Festival in NYC, it was all a blast. 

I had the pleasure to first meet the Ute crew in Spring 2019, playing their club night at Blå in Oslo. Already had a good feeling when they picked me up from the airport and were playing Global Communication while driving through misty evergreen trees. Oslo freakishly reminded me a lot of my hometown of Seattle, just a bit less mountainous and hilly. That summer, we shared a lineup in Säule Berghain and at the end of season I was invited to play at one of their forest parties (bless) alongside their residents and Alpha Tracks - it was a really fun run! :~)

Sidewinder aka D.Dan - Can You Float? [Amniote x Ute Compilation]

Today we premiere a track from rising Limerick techno boss, Jon10. The Izotope head honcho has put together hard hitting yet melodic techno track as part of his label’s second VA release.

IZØTOPEV94, a collective previously set up as an event to highlight the rising talent in limerick. Recent times have forced the collective to dabble in the digital world of music.

From live-streams to t-shirt releases and an ongoing mix series, IZØTOPEV94 has decided to take it one step further and curate its very own label. Allowing artist from the V94 and beyond to flourish their music production skill that have been carefully crafted over the last 2 years. 

This hard hitting and melodic V/A includes artists such as Jon10, Taggy Prince Prada, Llukke. Hooligan and Blokes45 all of which express their unique tastes in electronic music through the variety of genres and sub genres that are contained within this V/A. 

Jon10’s track Breakthrough is tough as nails but remains euphoric and melodic in its poignant delivery. Break beat’s are met with a sub shaking kick drum and Underworld like pads flood the soundscape. A swirling and entrancing flute takes centre stage through out the track. This is a real delight.

Prospekt Podcast 072: Dylan Fogarty 

This week we welcome one of the fastest rising Irish talents we’ve seen in recent years, Dylan Fogarty to join our growing podcast series.

The Dublin based artist from Skerries first emerged on our radar in mid 2022 following a wealth of self releases via his Soundcloud and Bandcamp which quickly gained traction. 

Since then Dylan’s productions have been going from strength to strength featuring on a number of VA compilations and labels such as the Canadian based PHTM, Concrete Berlin, Groovecore United and Aktiv to name a few.

Dylan’s sound is of the stripped back, loop driven techno which is influenced and reminiscent of the old school sound of the 90’s and 00’s which is heavily regarded as the golden era of techno, which we have seen a massive resurgence in. 

In recent months Dylan has been taking his sound from the studio to dance-floors, securing gigs from Irish collectives Lost, Rathaus and Izotope in venues such as Index, Cellar Dublin, Bow Lane and Pharmacia in Limerick. 

Although the young artist is only just beginning his musical journey, he’s already got a wealth of support and releases under his belt. He's recently been announced for this years Life Festival and we're looking forward to seeing what’s to come from him in the future.
