Wheats steps out on Solid Grooves for the first time to close March with latest single 'Bizzi'.

An artist whose sharp rise has seen him gain plaudits from a host of the industry's biggest names, UK-based talent Wheats burst onto the scene in 2019 and hasn't looked back ever since. Now an artist very much at the forefront of the UK's surging wave of rising DJs and producers making an impact on the global scene, late-March welcomes a debut outing on Solid Grooves as he reveals the bumping and infectious 'Bizzi'.

Armed with hefty kicks, slick metallic drum licks, and rolling low-ends alongside an infamous hip-hop sample at the heart of the production, 'Bizzi' offers up a peak-time cut set to do some serious damage across returning dancefloors across the globe in the months ahead.

‘Tell Me Something Good’ sees the Scottish DJ/producer cover Rufus & Chaka Khan’s 70s jam of the same name, twisting catchy vocals and huge synth stabs into an ecstatic peak time club weapon. ‘Delta’ brings the tempo down, but keeps the energy levels high as piano chords drift effortlessly across a chugging breakbeat and rolling basslines, making for a feel-good closing track to another standout release from Trick.

“Hardbag, a style of music championed by Tony De Vit, Jon Of The Pleased Wimmin, Burger Queen, The Sharp Boys and many many others, was the antithesis of ‘handbag’ house which was popular in the cheesy clubs at the time. Super tough, super fun, largely queer-centric tongue in cheek music that was purely for the dancefloor and didn’t take itself too seriously all the while being absolutely mint (to me anyway). A favourite amongst the Solid Grooves family and an individual at the heart of the imprint under his role as label manager, Ramin Rezaie keeps delivering inside the booth and in the studio as he shapes his clean-cut sound as a DJ and producer on the rise. Having launched his own label Silky Records to open 2022, May sees a welcome return to Solid Grooves Raw as he turns in fresh heat with 'Lucid Dreaming'.

Harnessing his trademark rubbery basslines amongst slick percussion, bright stabs and hypnotic, hazy vocal interjections, 'Lucid Dreaming' delivers yet another early hours roller from the label regular as he continues his ongoing hot streak.

Amsterdam based Luuk van Dijk is welcomed into the Hot Creations fold this July with his heavy-hitting Parallax E.P. Chicago production wizard DJ Skull is also on board to rework the B-side.

Title track Parallax is set to cause a serious stir at festivals and clubs alike this summer. The smattering of high-hats elevate the track as the space-like beeps and blips add another facet. On the flip, Dimension applies an ominous vocal stab as the bass rumbles — perfect for low ceiling basement raves. On the remix, DJ Skull adds a touch of Chicago class via some softer vocals, dubby chords and a pounding bass. At the tender age of 22, Luuk van Dijk has been signed to acclaimed labels such as VIVa Music, Roush, Food Music, Sanity and Lost Records. Championed by stalwarts such as Steve Lawler and Eats Everything, he has taken his sound to some of the world’s most prestigious events.

Ron Maney aka DJ Skull became known for being one of the first DJs to play the new sound coming out of Chicago, honing his craft at the infamous Music Box and Power Plant. Releasing records since the early 90s, he later launched his own labels Hypnotic Tones and Wax Candy Records. Recent releases have appeared on Chiwax, Domina Trxxx and Mentha Records.
