We only wanted to do 50 releases, and here we are now with our 50WEAPONS finale: catalogue numbers #040 to #050, 10 years (2005-2015) and 10 final label parties all over the world. Upfront 036: 50WEAPONS

Here's Alex's and my oral history of this track..

Alex:  "The idea for ‘Eve’ came about from a short session in my studio where I sketched out some very rough 16 bar loops and sent them over to Max to play with, deliberately stopping myself from developing them too far at this stage in order to leave space the collaborative process to evolve."

Max:  "I almost un-wrote a track for this one. Alex started off with the main bulk of the ideas for the track, and I initially chopped it all back to a couple of key elements.   I then experimented with some FFT effects and building some chaotic randomising manipulations of the basic elements, and sliding drum rhythms so that one drum element would slip relative to another and then back in - all an attempt to generate some movement and variation from the simple building blocks."

Alex:   "It was interesting to hear the rough ideas I had created, developed in a totally different way to how they would have had I been writing the track by myself. Inspired by the new direction the track was going in - "

Max:  "I'd made a mess.  Alex helped tidy it all up and bring it enough back into line to work as a dancefloor track"

Alex:  "- I layered some more percussion hits and string textures.  We continued the process of sending stems back and forth, refining each others ideas as well and creating new ones until the track was ready."

Max:  "The quotient series has been a nice opportunity to experiment with new music outside of the restrictions of record labels and their need to sell product.  This freedom has left me open to put out a piano solo and feedback matrix, a 10 minute ambient to drum and bass glitch remix, a track scored to a video, a one off club collab and more - all projects that I wanted to try, and am glad I did, but that wouldn't easily fit into the usual EP/LP formats. 

It's been a sort of sketch and experiment project, much of it tied to the Emergence visual shows, where I've been experimenting with how I can perform music and visual in sync in a live format. "

Averos should be a familiar name to most of the people following Origami Sound. Aside from their contributing track from Chapter 3 (http://soundcloud.com/origamisound/averos-forte) the duo has had both their debut and follow-up releases on our very own Farver Music, 
The combination of Aebeloe and Theodor Clausen has spun to life an amazing live performance, gaining them critical acclaim as one of the finest bands during last year's Trailerpark Festival. Either through opening up for the likes of Max Cooper, having a couple of foreign gigs or by sharing the stage with the likes of Aphex Twin during Strøm Festival, Averos have built up quite an impressive resume that further adds justice to the outstanding music. 

The nature of "Falit" makes any further description obsolete. This is Averos.

Max Cooper is an electronic composer, multi-disciplinary artist, music label founder and former scientist who has carved out a unique space in music and visual art.

He holds a PhD in computational biology at the same time as being the first contemporary electronic musician to perform at the ancient Acropolis theatre in Athens and one of the first clutch of musicians to produce in Dolby Atmos.

Cooper has enquired for over 15 years through music, collaborations, and his label Mesh, to explore the intersections between the arts and sciences with installations, performances, immersive experiences, online media, music videos and live events.  Anchored throughout is his emotive approach, connecting how ideas and forms feel, in a manner accessible to us all. 
 
As an artist synonymous with the evolution of club culture, Cooper honed his craft as a DJ with a 10 year residency at legendary Midlands techno event Firefly where he formed a foundational relationship with Architecture Social Club, with whom he still collaborates on extravagant immersive installations.

"I want to encourage the acceptance of electronic music as an art form like any other. Bringing electronic music and abstract audio-visual projects into concert halls, museums and galleries is liberating - the art world opens up doors to communicate in ways that aren’t possible elsewhere."
  
Pivoting from computational biology to electronic music might not seem like the most natural career transition, but for Cooper the commonalities are obvious:
 
"In both fields, you're in a sense, free. Free from the limits of living systems, free from the limits of corporeal sound. The only constraints are in your mind."
