Radio Juicy presents Private Barrel Selection, the new album by Max I Million and Nocatchphraze. These two talented producers worked together internationally to bring us this collab, as Max I Million hails from Stockholm, Sweden, and Nocatchphraze is based out of Houston, Texas. The album has been in the process over the past couple years, but the two were able to find time to finalize it during lockdown.

Private Barrel Selection is an album that draws from many different influences, including funk, hip hop, disco, old school boom-bap and R&B. You can feel the unique touch of the two producers, making the album wide in perspective while still being a very focused and unique piece of work. Vintage vibes are present throughout the entire release, giving us the feeling that this one is an instant classic.

Private Barrel Selection seeks to evoke the feeling of a good time, enjoying a glass of aged whisky in a comfy chair while listening to a record player. The double entendre here is also that each of these tracks were matured and groomed to perfection, resulting in music of the finest caliber.

"Maxtape II" is the long awaited powerhouse sequel to Max I Million´s 2010 release "The Maxtape". It boasts exclusive material, aswell a selection of the Swedish producers prime material released over the past decade and features Hip Hop legends such as C.L. Smooth, Chuck D, Edo G, Bishop Lamont and J-Ro to name a few.

The major difference is this composition is elegantly put together as a seamless DJ mix by the duo Create & Devastate - and released physically on cassette in association with Insert Tapes!

The story begins 10 years ago when DJ Devastate (R.I.P) founded Counterweight Records, in close collaboration with Max. Enthusiastically, the two started working on the project, which abruptly came to an end with Dev´s tragic passing in 2018. In the years following, Max I Million has carried the torch, putting out work continuously to honor the label´s original vision and keeping the legacy alive.

When contemplating how to materialize "Maxtape II", Max finally got the idea to bring Dev´s old partner DJ Create on board. He picked up where DJ Devastate left off and the rest is soon-to-be history!

With exquisite cover art design by Jonas Hilmersson, one of the originators of Counterweight Records, this mixtape embodies the expression "Coming full circle". Let the tape roll!

After releasing the stunning Uncut Gems instrumental project last year, Swedish beatsmith Max I Million is back at it with a new single, “A Vibe Called Blessed,” taken from his forthcoming follow-up LP.

As you may have guessed from the track’s title, this is a loving homage to the legendary ATCQ. In particular, “A Vibe…” takes the sound and style of Tribe’s classic third album, Midnight Marauders, and synthesizes it into one track. Max’s instrumental is full of the warmth and jazz-influenced grooves heard throughout MM.

“A Vibe Called Blessed” is the lead focus track taken from Max’s upcoming album, Shine On…, which serves as a sequel of sorts to his Coalmine debut, Uncut Gems. A Decade In The Dust

“I Rap Black” is a powerful collaborative statement from rappers Chuck D, Bishop Lamont, and Mykill Miers, who kick serious knowledge over a slapping instrumental from Swedish producer, Max I Million. They’re also joined by Swedish deejay/turntablist duo Create & Devastate—the latter of whom tragically passed this past March—with outro cuts handled by Besh One.

The track is an all-out celebration of unity and strength, and its arrival couldn’t have been timed better as today marks the 28th anniversary of Public Enemy’s classic third album, 'Fear of a Black Planet. '

Fittingly, PE frontman Chuck D kicks off “I Rap Black” with his trademark no-nonsense approach before passing the mic to Lamont and Miers. The two Cali rappers definitely make the Hip-Hop legend proud with their rhymes, which include thought-provoking quotables from Lamont like, “These are the days Marcus Garvey tried to preach us/ How many prophets must die before they reach us?”

In addition to being a celebration of Fear of a Black Planet, “I Rap Black” is the latest track off Max I Million’s forthcoming project, 'Maxtape Vol. 2,' the sequel to his 2010 release, 'Maxtape.' It's That Time Again

A first glance at The Lost Bangers. 

The track "Bang Ya Head" was made in 2013 and the process was filmed for a beatmaking video. This material was lost in a computer crash, but was recently found on an external hardrive after the tragic passing of DJ Devastate.  Hence the name The Lost Bangers, out november 12 via NINETOFIVE Records.

Another One was the second collab track Nocatchphraze and I ever made together as a duo and probably the moment we realized we should make a whole album. 

The soundscape is minimalistic. It features some Dillaesque drums with a loose shaker. The Fender Rhodes heard throughout felt a tad too sharp at the earliest stage of production so we added some effects and let the chords manifest themselves in bulging waves. The bassline was laced 16 levels style on the MPC and later on we added another layer of drums on top, making them sound more "live". The vocal chops were thrown into the mix to kind of give you the feeling that a master of ceremony was present, keeping the listeners attention. 

Another One is a feel good track that will make you wanna kick back in the couch just as much as you wanna move and nod your head in deep swinging motions.
