A Tribe Called Quest - Once Again (Verso Edit)

The idea for Emergency came up kinda randomly. My partner is half Filipina, and when we were in the Philippines, we kept hearing this viral Budots track everywhere – it’s a local kind of dance music that’s super energetic and glitchy. One particular sample stuck with me, and months later I randomly found that exact vocal in a sample bank. Turned out it was originally from Dr. Beat. At that moment I just knew – this has to become a track.

Around the same time, I was going out a lot to parties where Chris Stussy and Kolter were playing, and I got super inspired by that stripped-back, groovy house sound again. That became the second big influence on the track.

So yeah – Emergency is basically a mix of Filipino street energy and bouncy European house vibes. Came together fast and just made total sense.
