‘Yaad N Abraad’ is the powerful lead single on Monkey Marc’s Yaad N Abraad riddim. It features roots reggae artist Dre Island, one of the most exciting young musicians to emerge out of Kingston, Jamaica.

Revival, resurgence and revitalization: words used to describe the new wave of reggae music and young consciousness-raising, spiritually awakened artists. 

Dre Island, the mystic and rebel, showed a strong interest towards music from a young age, and knew that music would be his means of sharing his message. Nurtured and encouraged by his grandmother, Dre Island’s natural talents developed early with piano lessons that honed his craft and musical ear. Outspoken and often misunderstood, Dre Island worked on his musical skills while chronicling his transformation to Rastafari in song.

Dre Island started out at as a studio engineer and musician, observing the ins and outs of the music industry and soaking up every aspect of studio life and operations. He spent many of his formative years creating rhythms for many celebrated reggae and dancehall artists such as Sizzla, Junior Reid, Jah Cure and Julian Marley.

Dre Island made his transition to recording artist in 2008. His socially conscious messages, strong musical foundation and distinctive voice have driven his meteoric rise at the forefront of the roots and culture movement. 

On Yaad N Abraad, Dre Island's raw, impassioned lyrics describe a country racked by widespread poverty, corruption and violence, where “blood still a flow just like the River Nile”. Jamaica has endured decades of crippling foreign debt, austerity measures and economic policies that destroy opportunities for the poor and protect the wealthy elite.

Dre Island laments that political and social injustice is found all around the world: “Same ting weh happen a yard gwaan abraad”. He calls on his people to stay strong and defiant: “Physically, mentally you affi strong. Can’t weak heart when you out inna Babylon. Got to stay focused and know your direction.”

Max RubaDub, better known as „The Remix Junkie“ releases his personal milestone. After years of remixing for labels and artists from all over the world, he finally found time to sit down and work on his producer-album. Featuring voices like Luciano, Gappy Ranks, Voicemail or Lutan Fyah this LP brings along a high musical diversity. On 16 tracks he mixes all the different colors which Jamaican Bass music has to offer. Whether it is rub-a-dub, hiphop, steppers, dancehall or one-drop, Max dedicates his debut-album to the love of music.

Max RubaDub is truly unique. Like no one else, he mixes danceable beats with fresh vocals - whether it is mash up, dancehall, reggae or hip-hop - focussing on groovy music that keep your dancing feet moving; always surrounded by the Jamaican vibe. He plays what he likes and whatever makes the party going crazy; also new genres such as moombahton or even dubstep.

Having gained a lot of experience, Max knows exactly how to crank up the party and how to excite the party crowd anywhere. But this DJ is also an entertainer: with his hot sets, he is a welcome guest in the clubs and one of the most booked selectors in Switzerland.

He started his career as a member of the well-known Riot Soundsystem, with which he travelled all-over Switzerland and its neighbouring countries. But also as a solo DJ he managed to gain publicity by creating internationally acclaimed remixes for names as Chali 2na or Cypress Hill and by releasing mixtape series.

Meanwhile, the name Max RubaDub stands for quality. A further project is the SoundMax-Studio, in which he is experimenting and working on his latest remixes, is recording different artists or is refining his newest productions. He released his own music on several international labels such as Irish Moss Records (IR), Cast-a-Blast (GR), Gideon Production (CH), Superfly (PL) Ranking Reggae (CH) or on his own RubaDub Blends (CH).

The future seems to be bright: there are already new productions and mixes raring to be released and as usual Max RubaDub is willing to demonstrate his DJ-skills in the clubs. Watch out!

Max RubaDub ist ein Unikum. Wie kein zweiter mixt er tanzbare Beats mit freshen Vocals, egal ob Mash Up, Dancehall, Reggae oder Hip Hop, Hauptsache, der Sound groovt und geht direkt in die Beine. Der rote Faden ist der jamaikanische Vibe. Dabei macht Max auch vor Stilarten wie Moombahton oder Dubstep nicht Halt. Gespielt wird was gefällt – und abgeht!

Max RubaDub gelingt es dank seiner langjährigen Erfahrung, die Party zur rocken, welche diesen Namen auch verdient und die TänzerInnen landauf und -ab zu begeistern. Hier wird der DJ zum Entertainer: Mit seinen brandheissen Sets ist er gern gesehener Gast in den Clubs und einer der am meisten gebuchten Plattenaufleger der Schweiz.

Dabei hat sich der Name Max RubaDub zum Synomin für Qualität entwickelt.

Ein weiteres Projekt ist das SoundMax-Studio, in welchem er an seinen Remixen arbeitet, verschiedene Künstler aufnimmt und an seinen eigenen Produktionen feilt, welche er bereits auf internationalen Labels wie Irish Moss Records (IR), Cast-a-Blast (GR), Gideon Production (CH), Superfly (PL) Ranking Reggae (CH) und seinem eigenen RubaDub Blends (CH) veröffentlichen konnte.

An der Zukunft wird bereits fleissig geschraubt, so stehen neue Produktionen und Mixes in den Startlöchern, und natürlich wird Max RubaDub weiterhin seine DJ-Skills in den Clubs beweisen. Aufgepasst!
