My DJ Highlight 2021 so far! I played this 2:30 hr dj set in the afternoon/early evening for the fantastic WILDE MÖHRE Festival 2021. And it was my first return to normal (after that long Covid Break), it felt like a disco dream to play in front of relaxed people, just dancing and taking care of their own business, no selfies, no modern club bullshit, just pure dancing fun!

I'm a former sound engineer from Translab Studio Paris, providing audio mastering for +650 releases including Pepe Bradock "Deep Burnt", and all Daft Punk's Crydamoure label. I've carved the French-Touch sound during 10 years and launched the lounge music movement. I initiated the first raves in France with my friend Manu Casana, sound-designed Karl Lagerfeld's shows amongst others. This is my new projet. 100 compilations, sharing my personal selection of the best contemporary music, mixed together in the most eclectic way, yet creating an unforgettable journey. This is my "Collection".

J’ai construit cette Collection 012 telle que je l’aurais conçue lorsque je travaillais sur les compilations Hotel Coste ou Buddha Bar, à l’apogée de la lounge music. Tous les ingrédients sont réunis, avec des chansons fortes et une belle amplitude des époques allant de 1971 à 2013. Le voyage des saveurs et des couleurs nous emmène dans des univers connus et délicats. Je l’ai imaginé comme une suite de ballades vocales et mélodiques, plutôt mélancoliques, tout en préservant certains équilibres : entre douceur et puissance, entre musiques pop et électronique, entre sonorités old school et modernes. 

Ce nouvel opus souffle un vent d’intemporalité en faisant ressurgir quelques airs oubliés, parmi les plus belles chansons et mélodies des années “lounge”. Evidemment, j’y ai incorporé des titres issus d’autres univers : Radiohead, The Doors, Earth wind & Fire, mais aussi un remix de Tim Tim de la vieille chanson “Rum and Coca-Cola” implantée dans notre inconscient collectif. J’y glisse aussi un titre d’Etienne de Crecy, extrait de l’album multi-artistes conceptuel du début de la French-Touch : Super Discount. 

Pour cette nouvelle fresque plus recentrée sur les années 2000, j’ai moins cherché à créer la surprise et le contraste, j’ai surtout voulu rendre ce voyage musical harmonieux et touchant, comme un tableau aux couleurs de l’automne.

What can you do in an hour? I generally dont love doing or posting hour long sets cus hour long sets are tough. After an hour I feel like im just getting going, but this was a special one at a special place and i feel like it came out ok. The lineup was stacked that we all had 1 hour sets so big ups to the homie who let me go a little long to wrap it up.
