Third Son from London / UK is taking control for the seventh episode of our Parquet Recordings Mixtape Series. Third Son’s goal has always been simple - to make the best music he can. Coming from a musical family and trained as a musician from a young age, his innate passion for music has taken him through styles and experimentation the world over. While his successful debut EP "Geometry / Karma" together with Wally Lopez were released in August 2016, the brandnew follow-up solo-singles "Viscode / Film Score" on Parquet Recordings just arrived in the shops. Check out the live recording of his energetic DJ set at the 10 Years Parquet Recordings Party at White Noise, Stuttgart, Germany, 17.12.2016.

Deep Seahorse Podcast presents: Microtrauma!
All the way from Germany, we have the melodic duo of Daniel Päßler & Ricardo Linke which have combined roots way back to 1995. Their early day productions could be all from trip hop, electronica, breaks to techno. However, in 1999 the two of them went separate ways for reasons of diverging careers, but got back together by coinsidence in 2003. After a few sessions in their domestic living room studios they decided to make more of their hobby and, thus, started renting their first studio in 2005.
Microtrauma was born.
2007 was the year Microtrauma kicked off. They had their first release “Wake up“ on the Elected Tunes label with their first own release “Collar EP” soon to follow.
They are now highly know and recognised producers, with a serious amount of EP's in their bag. Their style is something special, a different touch, melodic, dark, technoid and minimal as they say themselves.
We are super excited to have these two guys onboard our cast! Welcome aboard!

INTERVIEW

1. Why did you choose to become an artist?
"It wasn’t really an active choice for me to be honest but it rather came over me naturally. I just realized over time that I would feel better whenever I made music."

2. What do you want to express with your music?
"Emotions. For me, music is all about emotions as you can probably hear in this mixtape. There are these very special vibes which make feel something. And I love it when these feelings hit me."

3. What do you do to get into a creative state?
"Most important for the lazybones I am is probably routine; because you can't get into a creative state of mind when you don't actually try to create something, right? Waking up early, sitting down with a cup of coffee and just playing around. Sometimes I come up with the main idea of a new track, sometimes I just discover a hidden function of one of my synthesizers. Not every session has to lead to a new track - sometimes I just need to clear my head."

4. What, for you, is the purpose of art?
"I like to think of art as a kind of language, a language which is used to describe feelings which can't really be described with words. There are occasions where you encounter some piece of art and you kind of understand this certain language, it just resonates with you and sets you in a certain mood. And then there is art which you simply don't understand, which is trying to communicate with you in a different language."

5. You in 11 years?
"Well, I’m not a big fan of planning too far ahead. One year ago I couldn’t even imagine how much of an impact 2019 would have on me and my career. And that's just ONE year, so it's impossible for me to think 11 years ahead. I’m sure though that I’ll still get excited by creating and playing music - it’s just a huge part of me."
