Abigail For A While

this "weekly" song took several months. i wrote the music shortly after i got home from my fall tour but the words were elusive. i kept extracting these precise scenes and phrases from the melody, but i couldn't figure out what the song was about. i felt like i was looking out a window into complete darkness and then the light would catch and i could see that it was pouring rain.

i ended up naming it “streetlights” and mostly i think it’s about memory — the beautiful, tragic capacity we have for carrying around little remnants of ourselves.
