For L/B016 Austrian composer Aleksandar Kos aka Synthakt has done it again with 2 pieces that show his art of production. We are putting an emphasis on ‘composer’ as by now you have probably heard his “Memento Mori Ep” and it’s title song. For the A side he brings you the truly skullstepian “Desert Sun” which has been destroying opera houses all over europe. The flip “Prodia” is more waltz oriented with a triple grid that will not allow you to stand still for a nanosecond!

With his latest EP „UKRBOY”  Maxim Anokhin a.k.a Limewax proves four tracks are more than enough to reveal, convey and impose the full spectrum of emotions to his listeners. The self-titled opener with its epic vocals and tense build-ups is like the sky during a massive storm, clearing up just to get pitch black again. „SPINT” has all we love Limewax for – wall of drums and bass bombing, pierced by paranoid stabs and obscure sound design. „MIND MACHINE” is an uplifting cybernetic orgasm and the EP climaxes with „FAKE OAXACA” a track lingering between nervous drum patterns, noise peaks, vocal chops and severe synths. Limewax surely knows how to fuck up your brain real good and he needs only 20 minutes to do so. Get your fix.

Counterstrike is back on the collaboration tip with 4 heavyweight cuts. Synthakt provides devastating remix treatment on Gein and Counterstrike's classic Pentagram. Cooh and Counterstrike step it out with Reanimate. Limewax and Counterstrike drop some snares down the stairs with Ultraviolet. Finally, Gein returns after a brief hiatus with a heavy remix of Synthakt and Counterstrike's I Believe.

Joanna Syze: a name synonymous within the darker, moodier realms of drum and bass. No stranger to the music industry, with a DJ career and back catalogue spanning close to twenty years, Syze is renowned throughout the US & Europe for being one of the second wave of female artists –following on from the likes of DJ Rap, Kemistry & Storm etc., to break through not only as a DJ, but a highly competent producer, vocalist and businesswoman.

After a string of successful releases and collaborations throughout the noughties - including her unforgettable vocals on the seminal 'No Evil' by Kryptic Minds & Leon Switch, Syze shifted her focus to recording her debut LP for OHM Resistance - Rodina, which fittingly translates to “homeland” in Bulgarian and is Joanna's birthplace; a place entrenched into every fibre of her being and somewhere consistently referenced in many of her lyrics and work.

Fast forward to early 2016: after a five year hiatus to focus on her ongoing health issues, Joanna decided to begin working on her sophomore album –Surrender, another 17 track project but this time for Othercide Recordings. There are many familiar artist features on this album from both seasoned drum and bass veterans, right through to collaborations with the new breed of producers. The album includes the likes of Chris.SU, Akov, Barbarix, Volatile Cycle, Zardonic, Redpill & The Sect to name but a few – all laying down their own unique styles and identities. However, the feel & sound of Surrender remains unmistakably Syze throughout: moody, melancholy, instantly encapsulating with a heavy nod to the early/mid 2000's era of dark reese's and hypnotizing melodies that inspired her so much.
