2021. What a year it's been. On the 1st January 2021, Influenced Records was born. A brand new independent Techno label based out of London, UK. Fast forward 12 months and here we are, on New Years Eve, closing the year with a compilation of music released on our beloved label.

This 2021 compilation is the first in a forthcoming series of annual compilations, summarising the year gone by with 1x track from each release, and a few remixes for good measure. This edition is 18 tracks strong, which we hope gives you an insight into the diversity of our sound in 2021.

An album constructed by our artists, for the fans. To anyone who has bought or listened to our music, thank you SO much for all your support this year, it really does mean the world, and we honestly couldn't have done it without you. This ones for you.

This is only the beginning for Influenced Records, just you wait to see what we have in store.

Following a remix appearance of Chris Liebing on Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD imprint last year, the pair now team up on Liebing’s celebrated CLR imprint for ‘I Will Be A Devil Until I Am An Angel’ this November.

First up, ‘Watch Me Choose You’ launches with a clap-heavy groove shot through with bleeps and squelches, a subtle serpentine acid-line woven among its sturdy drums. It’s a high-intensity, peak-time offering followed by ‘When You Are Near’, another dancefloor bomb which continues with additional bursts of acid sprayed on top of its cavernous kick drums before dropping into a mind-melting frenzy at the halfway mark.

It was early 2007 when Inigo Kennedy inaugurated Token. Since that Identify Yourself 12” the Belgian label has gone from strength to strength, integrating both Kennedy and Ashley Burchett, aka Ø [Phase], into becoming integral cogs in the Token machine. In between releases by Grovskopa, Oscar Mulero and Go Hiyama, both Ø [Phase] and Inigo Kennedy dominated Token’s output, but it wasn’t until Burchett’s watershed Binary Opposition that Token received the shower of praise it deserved. Following this, label founder Kr!z issued three remix 12”s of that release which, including Token regulars, took in a profound cast of producers to reprocess “Binary Opposition” by the way of Sigha, Peter Van Hoesen, Planetary Assault Systems and Ben Klock. It was here Token stamped their authority on contemporary techno.

Since then Token has grown exponentially, bringing into their fold artists like Xhin, Mark Broom and Rødhåd, while Ctrls, formally one half of Northern Structures, has seen his solo career flourish on Token with the release of five records to date, and he joins Inigo Kennedy and Ø [Phase] as a label stalwart. Additionally this year, Orphx and Ancient Methods debuted their relentless Eschaton collaboration on Token, and Christian Wünsch’s Spherical Coordinates dalliance with Oscar Mulero has gained even more momentum with a second release called Kinematics Equations. Now, seven years after that debut Kennedy record, Token present Aphelion, a nine-track CD and triple vinyl grandstand of new and exclusive material from label regulars and like-minded artists whom Token founder Kr!z specifically commissioned for this milestone release.

The penultimate record before Aphelion was a second Token 12” by Rødhåd, another artist adding to the cultivation of the label’s sound and roster, and for this compilation the Berliner supplies his cosmically inspired “Haumea”. Joining the Dystopian founder on Aphelion are three of the UK’s most influential techno artists: Surgeon, James Ruskin and Luke Slater under his Planetary Assault Systems alias who provide Token with solo material for the first time after previously appearing on the imprint in remix form. Entirely new names to grace the label via Aphelion include Stroboscopic Artefacts founder Lucy, and Blawan and Pariah's Karenn project, while label faithfuls Inigo Kennedy,  Ø [Phase] and Ctrls naturally commit three Token defining productions.

Casting one’s eye over Token’s back catalogue and it’s clear to see the label is a staunch advocate of absolute techno, remaining steadfast in issuing quality material that remains true to classic strands of the genre regardless of its popularity flux. In that respect, Aphelion - a word used to describe the point in orbit when a planet or comet is farthest from the sun - provides a simple analogy that the magnetic force of Token, unfazed by the shadows cast by popular opinion, will proudly shine light on their artists and given styles. 

“We started in an era where our genre was very unpopular,” Kr!z explains. “And in the end that seemed a big advantage for us, because when everyone was giving up, we started our mission.” Regularly hosting label nights in prominent clubs around the world, Token has become a label supported by a wide-ranging body of artists like Âme and Ben Klock to Efdemin, Truss and Ancient Methods. With the label now branching out into album and compilation territory, Token’s duty to techno may not yet be accomplished, but it’s been a job well done.

Inigo Kennedy - Arcing

Established in 1998 the project Energun22, launched a number of successful techno releases (Kazumi, Salpeter, Shubfaktor) than on the right has proved itself a pioneer of underground electronic scene in the post-Soviet space, the materials of which were issued on vinyl. Assertive and analog sound Energun22 was the fundamental factor of the collective participation of almost all major platforms and izvetnyh country and Europe (Mayday Russia, Eastern hit St. Petersburg, Kazantip - Ukraine, Medgorave, East-West - Estonia, etc.).
At the dawn of a quick and merciless "shranz" and "hardtechno" team has contributed, among the first with the release in this direction in the well-known labels such as Highball Music, Working Vinyl, Lifeform, FAT tm rec, Expanded and others. Prior to the 2003 ENERGUN 22 creates music in the most difficult areas of technology getting support from the world famous DJs: Dj Rush, Robert Natus, Andreas Kremer, Arkus P, etc. In 2003 Energun 22 changes its name to Energun, the project decided to take a break to rethink his life. The name change does not affect the ability to work, the project continues to exist not only on stopping hard techno sound.
From 2003 to 2005 Energun works closely in the studio experimenting with sound and equipment, while continuing to tour. One of these experiments was the use of vocals and melodic, arpeggio-style party synthpop. Uzhivshis harmoniously with techno beats, these elements are embodied in ENERGUN vs. LOGIKA. The project lasted from 2005 - 2008, and was not entirely studio work. The musicians played several gigs in the mainstream clubs of the former Soviet Union. Statements "logical" and supported the release of the official release with a brand new sound.
First of 2009, the musicians decide to return to his classic techno roots, at a higher level. Reviving brand ENERGUN Denis and Sergey Sinitsyn Maksymchuk have already proven their viability alongside creative digital releases around the world (Cool Play - Italy, Audio Donner Records - England, NWS - Russia, RELDZ records - America, Analogate Recordings - Argentina, Ignored Records - Spain , Unaffected Records - Czech Republic, Labrynth Records - Portugal and many others) that promote the classic sound of techno.
2010 - 2011 year was for the iconic musicians. Once, how to Energun returned to the bosom of the classic techno, the project was invited to several well-known festivals of electronic music, among them Lord of Techno, First Fest and the Technosphere. Along with new presentations Energun began to cooperate with the Techno labels (Armatura Records, Russian Techno, Urban Kickz Recordings and others). But the most important event of 2011 was the founding and opening Energun Records label, whose artists hatched the idea in recent years. It was decided to digital record label, which, along with a classic old school techno, to acquaint fans of electronic music with new trends and experiments in a truly infinite universe of Techno.
The first stage was based Energun Records as a tool to promote your music collective, but eventually evolved into a platform for the promotion of techno musicians from all post-Soviet space.
To date, releases have been released with musicians such as (LOKODEPO, PCP, Alex Rexob, Oudio, Pagalve, Galet).
Along with this technology Energun Records label expands the boundaries of style. For example, in a release from the Russian group of PCP was affected by the new direction Somatic Techno.
There are currently plans to release several very different facets of techno.

Belgian based Phara makes a huge debut on @soma with "The Great Attractor" EP. With his fast, raw and energetic sound, Phara’s ascent has been quick off the mark and this latest release has the young producer stretch himself farther with cleverly produced and exciting tracks. UK Techno don, Setaoc Mass backs up this already masterful EP, lending his own prowess to the title track.

Great Attractor leans on 90s, spaced-out techno vibes as fast paced 909s fire against the backdrop of rapid, modulating synths. Setaoc Mass’ remix comes up next, offering a deeper more restrained affair. However, as usual, the adept nature of his productions deal out devastating effect. On the flip, Mission 3,2,1 delves into dubbed out synth work whilst retaining drive and groove. Further dub explorations are found on closing track The Andromeda Manoeuvre. Spacial synth work and atmospherics ebb and flow as Phara’s hard hitting and relentless percussive work deals the final blow.
