Greetings SCR fam!  2020 set us back a bit with our shows and we sincerely apologize to keep ya'll waiting for so long but fear no more as come back at you with a new installment for 2021!   Diving into the month of February, we feel it would only be appropriate to pay homage to one of the greatest hip-hop producers of all time, the late great, J Dilla. House Shoes Presents: Raise It Up - A Tribute to James "J Dilla" Yancey.  Feb. 7, 2011 Little Temple, Los Angeles.

This mix was the set I did at Little Temple.  I had fun teasing Babu that night about playing a super crackley record before I went on after he murdered it.  Dilla is my favorite Hip Hop producer.  To this day one of the highest compliments I've received is that he sampled one of my snares!!  R.I.P. to Dilla one of very few that mastered his instrument (the MPC)!!!!

Hip-Hop Loves Jazz #7

This mix is very special to me as it is dedicated to the honor of the late great J Dilla. I made this to showcase the versatility & amazing quality of work from one of the greatest producers of all-time. 
   From emerging from the gritty city of Detroit to showcasing his genius to the entire world before his passing at age 32, Dilla (also known as Jay Dee) always kept his love for all forms of music front and center. It's my honor and duty to continue to push music forward and keep his memory alive with everything I have in me. 
       I will post a tracklist soon but I want you all to just engulf the mix and embrace the rhythms. Music can truly change lives and we all must be creative in every aspect of our lives. Word to Dilla.
   Special thanks and honor to his mother Maureen Yancey, his mentor Q-tip, Questlove, Busta Rhymes, ILLA J, Madlib and the man who taught him : Amp Fiddler.
