Super excited to start inviting special guests to my radio show. First up is a mix coming from the incredible Dame Bonnet who plays bass for Curses and has released tracks on Ombra International and Hoga Nord Rekords.

He makes atmospheric club music influenced by post punk and cold wave with reverb drenched percussion that traces back to 80s music culture and political resistance with a unique sound made for where we find ourselves today.

C’est une musique ronde, chaude et profonde. Si vaste qu’il est difficile de la définir aujourd’hui, en un seul podcast. Le jazz, la disco, la funk, le gospel, la pop, le rock, la soul, l’arrivée des machines synthétiques comme les boîtes à rythmes et les synthétiseurs analogiques, tous ces éléments ont façonné le son de cet univers.  

Mais il n’y a pas que les instruments ou les genres musicaux, qui font ce pourquoi on la connaît. Il y a tout un contexte historique, qui cultive ce registre. La musique noire américaine en constitue l’essence même.

Ce n’est pas que de la musique, ou des engagements politiques, ce sont aussi tout une culture de danses africaines qui sont associées à ce mouvement. 

À travers ces détails qui la composent, on peut se rendre à l’évidence qu’elle n’est donc pas uniforme. C’est une exploration sans fin.

Depuis sa naissance, la House ne cesse d’évoluer et de s’édifier en tant que Maison Mère de la musique électronique. Aujourd’hui et depuis plusieurs décennies, elle s’élève au rang des fondements de la dance music.

À mon sens, cet enregistrement raconte en 90 minutes pourquoi la House n’arrêtera jamais de s’éteindre ou d’influencer les genres. 

La House est une nation qui appelle au rassemblement, le plaisir de danser, l’amour et la liberté.

C’est une quête de lâcher prise infinie.
