Dennis Cruz delivers the landmark 300th release on Damian Lazarus’ iconic Crosstown Rebels imprint with ‘The Snake Charmer’ EP, featuring collaborations with Ian Ludvig and the label boss himself.

An artist at the height of his powers, arriving off the back of his busiest Ibiza season to date, it’s safe to say that Dennis Cruz is a man in extremely high demand within the global electronic landscape. Founder of his own labels MÜSE and CRZ, while featuring as a key member of the Solid Grooves Family, Cruz’s longstanding ties to Crosstown Rebels date back to his debut in 2018, featuring as a regular on the label and at their extensive global events from fabric London to Miami’s renowned Get Lost extravaganza since. Returning to the imprint following his excellent album ‘Roots’ in 2021, plus his recent contribution to the 20th Anniversary compilation with his remix of Pier Bucci’s ‘Hay Consuelo’, Cruz is back in emphatic fashion as he marks the 300th release in the label’s revered catalogue with his latest EP ‘The Snake Charmer’ - featuring two solo tracks alongside collaborations with fellow Crosstown signee Ian Ludvig and label founder Damian Lazarus himself.

A master of crafting rolling arrangements with subtle nuances that keep dancefloors locked in unison, the four tracks across the package see Cruz experiment even further as he showcases a global array of influences. Opening track ‘Snake Charmer’ welcomes a crisp organic percussion arrangement accented by eastern flutes through to snaking grooves and hooky female vocal samples throughout, while ‘Revolution’ welcomes an all-star cast as he links with Damian Lazarus for a heady, skippy slice of house merging hazy chords and bright stabs with vocals from contemporary Detroit nightlife icon and staple DJ Holographic.

On the flip, the Spaniard once again steps out solo and dives deep into a low-slung and playful groove on ‘Time Out’, introducing a wealth of vibrant vocals amongst blossoming melodies and soulful organ riffs, before closing the show as he joins Ian Ludvig to present an off-kilter, impactful and warping closer guided by provocative vocal snippets across ‘Pain Away’.

Damian Lazarus’ Rebellion label celebrates its 100th release with Francesca Lombardo’s fourtrack EP ‘Synthesize’.

Since launching in 2011, Crosstown Rebels’ sub-label Rebellion has consistently served as a platform for introducing emerging talents and more established talent to the house and techno realm, playing a pivotal part in the careers of rising stars and international names. As the label prepares for its landmark 100th
release, Francesca Lombardo brings her vibrant sound spanning an impressive back-catalogue of music on esteemed labels like Ovum, Crosstown Rebels, Mobilee, and her own Echoe and Echolette imprints, among others. Known for her distinctive blend of dreamy soundscapes, stirring melodies and hypnotic rhythms, Lombardo now impresses with her rich four-track EP ‘Synthesize’.

"Leading the release is ‘Synthesize’, delivering a symphony of ethereal synth tones, crisp beats and cosmic bleeps, creating pure dancefloor hypnotism. The alternative version adds moodier textures with dense pads and female echoes working in harmony, while ‘Another Spin Around The Sun’ lives up to its title, featuring spiralling galactic chimes that evolve alongside sharp percussive elements. Sasha heads to Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels for the very first time, with the iconic Last Night On Earth boss remixing ‘The Last Song’ from Pale Blue’s excellent 2023 LP ‘Maria’. 

Released earlier this year, critically acclaimed pairing Pale Blue, aka Mike Simonetti (Italians Do It Better) and  Elizabeth Wight (Silver Hands), once again showcased precisely why their wide-reaching, expansive material and  music is so well loved within the electronic realm. Offering an eight-track journey into their own idiosyncratic and  singular universe in the form of their latest album ‘Maria’, the project was also accompanied by a selection of  stellar remixes and reworks from the likes of Fort Romeau, DJ Tennis, Perel, Kölsch and Rebolledo, and Damian  Lazarus’ renowned Crosstown Rebels imprint once again explores a fresh interpretation to close out its 2023  schedule, welcoming legendary DJ/producer and electronic pioneer Sasha to the label for the first time as he  remixes the entrancing ‘The Last Song’. 

“Buzzing be remixing for Crosstown Rebels. I loved the Pale Blue album when it dropped earlier this year. That spiritual, introspective sound drew me in, and ‘The Last Song’ reminded me a little of the Julee Cruise music from the 90s that graced many an ambient room mix. I have tried to keep the rawness of the original song but also channel some of that 90s hedonistic energy into this mix.” - Sasha. 

Harnessing Liz’s spellbinding vocals and placing them at the heart of the production before weaving slinking  percussion grooves, sweeping leads and resonant synth stabs to craft a dancefloor-ready take on the track,  Sasha’s remix draws on the original’s delicateness while bringing a free-flowing, late-night edge to the production.  Add in the hazy and wistful textures amongst the captivating builds and breaks, and you’re left with a remix built to  create lasting early-hour memories and moments.
