𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦(𝐬) 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜? 

Spontaneously, I would say poetry and literature. It’s been a big part of my life and my academic studies. There are times when I read less, but I always have a book in progress. I recently came across a Quebec masterpiece, “Il pleuvait des oiseaux” by Jocelyne Saucier, an outstanding writer!

𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐚 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫, 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐮𝐦𝐬, 𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬-𝐭𝐮?

J’écoute vraiment de tout, ça dépend de l’humeur, de la saison. Mais si je devais définir ce que j’écoute le plus en dehors du studio ou des dance floors, je dirais en vrac, Reggae Dub (High Tone, Zenzile, Easy Star All Star), Stoner & Psychedelic Rock, Gypsy Jazz, Ambient (Mars Lazar), Jazz-hop/Boom-Bap (Eric Truffaz, Guru), Vienna Dub (Tosca), Psydub (Schulman) et mention spéciale pour l’album « Simple Things » de Zero7. 

Plus récemment j’écoute en boucle les émissions « Balance Show » (Spacewalker) et « My Favorite Things » (Psycut) de Music Is My Sanctuary : un joyeux mélange de jazz, soul, hip-hop, etc.

𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐧𝐝/𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬?

I want to make people smile and let go for a while. To achieve this, I choose (or create) friendly and bouncy, sunny songs. Or on the contrary, I like to go for evil and completely trippy sound design, to make the brain twist. With the right sound system, it ends up having the same effect!

𝐃é𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐬-𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐥𝐞 𝐃𝐉 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐜é𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨 𝐝’𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐝é𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐢.

Honnêtement, peu importe le DJ booth tant que j’ai de quoi jouer des morceaux en digital et mes disques vinyle. Par contre le lieu importe beaucoup pour moi. J’ai envie de retrouver cette ambiance unique qui caractérise les fêtes libres en extérieur. Un gros volume, les pieds dans le sable à côté d’une rivière, taper du pied sur un champ de cailloux, dans la forêt, ou encore sous un pont d’autoroute, je vous laisse imaginer!

I’m really looking forward to trying out an Acidcore remix I did for the brilliant artist √Racine, which will be released on Ghost of the Shelf Records this summer. I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone and back to my first love, sound system tekno. Can’t wait for a big purring wall to really find out how this composition sounds!
