Yes, it really has been fifteen years since Future Tech (aka Drumsound & Bassline Smith) signalled the beginning of the Technique Recordings odyssey with their eponymous debut collaboration. Since then, the drum and bass sound has spread its tendrils from the dark corners of the underground into the limelight of mainstream appreciation. And Technique has been at the forefront of that evolution all the way. So, here's an LP to show the world exactly what a decade and a half among the top tier of D&B labels sounds like.

Label heads Drumsound & Bassline Smith take pole position, dropping straight into the drama of the Friction-supported “Spring Heel Jack”. Then comes another of Technique's most recognisable acts, Tantrum Desire with the low-down funk of “Shuffle”, followed by another Friction-favourite from the bossmen with “Sputnik”. The big names keep coming throughout the album, as Crissy Criss supplies the VIP of his monumental “Create the Future” and the mighty Digital goes dubbed-out with a remix of “Phantasm”. Plus Drumsound & Bassline Smith's alter-ego 2DB pass through with the highly-grimey “Terrahawk” and L Plus delivers two precision-engineered killers in the form of “Red Planet” and “Going Down”.

Flipping the script, Technique new boys Document One strike from two angles with the laid-back “Jazz Club” and the dirty dancefloor uppercut of “Body Like Wow”. TREi takes us to the big room with “Here & Now”, and the ever-individual MaxNRG shows off his ability to combine energy with melody on “Far Frontiers of Space”. Erb N Dub and Skope recruit Mr Dirty Smirks, MC SMK himself, to bring some typically hard bars to “Pull it Back”. Kronology does what it says on the tin with some “Razor Sharp” technoid-jungle vibes. And Aussie badman Spectrem brings some hands-in-the-air euphoria with “Say Goodbye” and then roughen things up with “The Future”. Infrasonik take the honour of completing the collection with “Bricks Breaking”. We made it! Winter's officially done and spring isn't long for this world either. We can know this for sure because the regular-as-the-seasons Technique Summer LP is just appearing over the horizon.

Our first taste of Summer comes courtesy of Smooth. The last decade has seen this artist show off a panoramic range of production styles, releasing on a string of the biggest labels in the scene including Get Hype, Viper, and RAM. And, of course, he's a highly sought-after remixer for artists as disparate as Matrix & Futurebound, Slander & Sullivan King, and Seven Lions. With this tune marking his debut on Technique Recordings, it's bound to be something special.

Right from the opening chords of “All Over the World”, we know we're in safe hands. There's a bright, uplifting, Balearic dawn flavour to the intro, and the house influence becomes ever more evident as a filtered break gives way to a call-to-rave dialogue sample.

And then there's the explosive euphoria of the drop. A pitch-twisted vocal riff layered over rock-solid bass and beats sets the tone, while warm enveloping strings draw the dance deeper. Smooth's musicality comes to the fore as he delivers us into a lighters-up breakdown, reconfiguring chords into arpeggios which lift us back into the bassline.

This tune is summertime raving encapsulated in a few minutes. Classy and sophisticated and, at the same time, packing pure dancefloor punch, Smooth has set summer off with a bang. And there's a lot more to come.

MaxNRG is a drum’n’bass music producer from Lviv, Ukraine, from where he has been instrumental in pushing the D&B and underground dance music movement across Eastern Europe. He began his journey in late 90’s, experimenting with various genres until he fell in love with drum and bass. Since then, he's steadily established his position as the top boy in the scene in his home country.

He released his homeland's first D&B album "Dead Voice" in 2002, as well as becoming the remixer of choice for many top Ukrainian artists. His crew Funk Masters, which includes his collaborators Derrick & Tonika, have since gone on to promote huge events across the region and to form their own label DNBSession Music. 
Among Ukranian junglists, his crew will be forever legendary for the anthem "Ruhaymo Jungle Massive", featuring MC N.E.D., and for their 2008 debut album "Drum and Bass Nation".

Having proven his credentials in Eastern Europe, Max began his campaign on the rest of the world with a well-received remix of Pendulum's "The Island", which came third out of more than eight-hundred entries in their remix competition in 2010. 
In 2012 MaxNRG's global reputation was secured with his signing to Technique Recordings.

From grimy trap to main-stage D&B, from delicate melodies to wicked big basslines, from Ukraine to the UK, MaxNRG's got it covered. Since signing to Technique he's demonstrated a level of versatility that's meant each new release comes with the promise of some new twist in the bass-music tale. Listen to the dancefloor smashers ‘Kill The Snake’, 'Now Hear This' and ’50 000’, horror-movie darkness of '“Danger Zone'”, vocal dnb 'Hide Away My Heart', the electro-acid road joint 'Dis Way We Gotta Do It', uplifting 'Far Frontiers from Space' and the proudly Ukrainian “'Arkan' and you wouldn't even know it was the same mind at work. 

MaxNRG has shown he's still got no interest in sticking to a formula. Constantly evolving and rewriting the rule-book as he goes, he's capable of reliably supplying the dancefloor with weighty bass and beats while still pushing genre-boundaries. This is intelligent rave music that hits hard!
