Seven Deadly Sins

This song, "Mal’ta Boy," is a powerful meditation on ancient human ancestry, genetic memory, and the invisible threads connecting modern people to our prehistoric forebears. It draws heavily on the real-life discovery of a 24,000-year-old boy whose remains were unearthed near Lake Baikal in Siberia, frozen in permafrost for millennia. His genome, sequenced in 2013, revealed groundbreaking insights into human migration: the boy belonged to a population known as Ancient North Eurasians, genetically intermediate between modern Europeans and Native Americans, but distant from East Asians—suggesting early waves of people crossed the Bering land bridge from Siberia to populate the Americas, while others spread westward into Europe. The lyrics frame this as a "ghost in the genome," a silenced voice thawed by science, emphasizing how DNA preserves stories of migration, survival, and shared heritage that echo through time.
At its core, the track celebrates the resilience of human lineage amid ice-age isolation and loss. The verses rap about "dig[ging] through the code, deep under the ice" and "tribes spl[itting] north, and the fire went west," evoking the boy's burial in a cultural context of mammoth ivory artifacts and symbolic art from the Mal’ta–Buret' culture. The chorus laments his "frozen" silence but affirms that "half of me remembers, half of me forgot," underscoring the boy's DNA's role in proving that up to half of Native American ancestry traces back to such Siberian populations, linking disparate continents in a "single spark."
