Jack Danzey’s a Naarm/Melbourne based DJ and collector. As one half behind the newly minted Australian label, Lunatic Music and party LUNACY, he’s played host to the likes of Conrad McDonald (Idjut Boys), Castro & Nemo (Sound Metaphors), DJ Honeypants and Trent (Cocktail d’Amore). With a reputation for the unexpected and exciting, often in the same beat, Jack's freestyle approach and genre-bending selections are hard to define and even harder to do without.

Dunkeltier macht Spaß! A friend told us it's long awaited. So yes, now the saga goes on. Luckily! With a pinch of salt. But it’s not a hoax! Years after the EPs on Macadam Mambo and Bahnsteig 23, das Dunkeltier is back on wax, this time on the German label Reach Another System aka RAS Records. It comes as no surprise that it's a surprise box drawing from the bottomless pit that is the 80s. And again, these edits are closer stylistically to his dark side project boldly named GOTT than to his more gleeful mainstay alias Sneaker. The sources of these four obscurities are only revealed to the third ear of the knowledgeable digger, but let us give you a hint – gathered are Teutonic Titans, a Bauhaus offshoot and a digital symphony orchestra. Kein Spaß!

Evie is an Eora / Sydney-based selector navigating all eras of dance music, making way through elements of balearic, street soul, dream pop and new wave to pair the nostalgic with the contemporary.

Evie has appeared at venues including Brilliant Corners (UK), The Sydney Opera House and featured with guest mixes on Skylab Radio, FBi Radio and Balamii. She also holds a 2023 residency at Eora’s own Club 77. 

Shaping a sound that is uniquely her own, Evie has landed slots alongside Soichi Terada, Pender Street Steppers, Paula Tape, Jex Opolis and locally with Mike Who, Caravan, Adi Toohey and Lauren Hansom.

Edition Hawara is a record label run by three friends and music lovers from Vienna. “Hawara” is originally derived from the Yiddish word chawer and means “friend(s)”, “lover” or simply “guy” in Viennese dialect. The word nicely captures how a local way of life or relating to each other can be entwined with a larger, border-crossing history. Our label takes inspiration from this, focusing on re-issuing long-forgotten musical obscurities from Austria that are local and quirky, yet also resonate beyond a particular place and time.

Heap digs deep. Not one to bow to trends and fanciful fads he knows his shit. Real abstract electronics for the dancefloors with a twist. The Neubau founder has worked tirelessly for years showcasing the best in raw, rugged, forward thinking music. Florian Stöffelbauer is Heap. The prolific man co-leads the Vienna based record label Neubau and Wiener Brut, which keeps impressing vinyl enthusiasts since its birth in 2015. Artists like Aufgang B, Karamika, Leo James and more recently Alexander Arpeggio, Gil.Barte, MR TC and Lo Kindre joined the roster and participated with forward thinking and brave dance music.
		
As diverse and interesting as his label’s output, so is Florian’s DJing. Deep knowledge of music and many secret gems in his vinyl bag let him guide faithful listeners all over Europe.

Sound Metaphors Mix Series 23 : Heap

For years now, an old recording of Jeffrey Sfire at Cocktail D'Amore's one and only cosmic hole was one of the highest references for us in terms of downtempo Italo sleaze - an almost 6 hours recording serving more like a PhD aural dissertation specialized in some of the most remarkable dancefloor digs (mainly Europe) had to offer in the 80s at under 115BPM. To be able to share it publicly on the HAND Mix Series as we reach number 50 is a huge honor and we're greatly thankful to Giacomo and Giovanni, the two cuties behind Discodromo that made this possible. We hope you can appreciate it as much as we have over these past years. Here it is HAND #50 featuring the unique sleazy wizardry of Jeffrey Sfire captured in a special moment in time during the moist and lubricated atmospheres of Cocktail, now online - listen carefully! For my closing set I took over from Riccardi Schola, who graced our premiere by playing Tränen In Der Nacht four times that night. -  According to him due to the fact that he was confused by the 4 sides of the new record and not at all due to the Spritz he was enjoying with relish throughout the night.
BTW Riccardi's very own and second solo EP will be out soon on a private press 7" sparkling with two Italo songs.
My selection I played from vinyl however is all over Europe and Canada. - Although ... I can sense a certain French touch of mid 80's synth pop before I shift the energy to my obscure Neue Deutsche Welle edits.
I remember the elevating feeling to see one of my favorite DJ's Cid Hohner, dancing with his unmatched smile on his face during the last 30 minutes of this night.
