Jheez we're back on the podcast with a power hour from one of MCR's finest crews - Kultura Collective. We've been well impressed with their forward thinking line ups & sick run of releases, so it's a pleasure to welcome them on and hear what they're digging atm.

As for the mix, we were seriously gassed why we heard the blend and energy that went into it. Broken beat goodness & grime instrumentals, laced in with pure sauce throughout.

Revamp Podcast 020 - Kultura Collective

Maya Q releases her debut EP for Scuffed Recordings, weaving together her own unique take on influences from across the UK dance music spectrum. The New England-born, London-based DJ and producer has been building momentum throughout 2021, both with her productions and as a resident of the Co-Select collective. 

The ‘Spiral’ EP follows Maya’s appearance on the Scuffed Presents 005 compilation in early 2021 with her track ‘Belief’, which saw support from Jaguar and Jess Iszatt on BBC Introducing, among others. 

Since then, Maya released her ‘I Just Wanna’ EP through DJ Pitch and Simkin’s All Centre label, which further established her esoteric production style and her place as an artist to watch in the UK’s electronic music scene. 

Closing out the release is ‘Drumpack’, with Maya’s eerie melodic pads and veering synth line dancing over a skippy garage-inspired beat, before introducing a grinding bassline in the second half of the track.

Presenting DBGI004- a hot and messy, sub dusting release from Chungo. Returning with a two track EP, designed to have you singing along to its melodies and moving your feet.

The first track ’Charcoal’ is a massive rainbow road bop, featuring Chungo’s groove at its finest, served up with a swinging dream of a melody which will keep you awake at night. The second track ‘Shuv It’, is an evolving pop group of pads and vocal stabs. Snappy percs and heavy sub frequencies, to conclude a two tracker made for DJs and movers.

UK producer Chungo returns to Scuffed Recordings for his third EP on the label, with three new tracks pairing playful melodies and bouncing grooves with his signature bass-driven, percussive techno style.

On the LX EP, Chungo further explores the melodic elements he set out on his Pineapple release, laying down an addictive earworm of a lead on the title track, while staying consistent to the percussive style he’s made his hallmark – pulling in influences from UK funky, garage, baile funk, and techno.

This week's APECAST comes straight from Fae. After forming her sound in Leeds, Fae is an artist who has been bubbling in the UK underground scene with an arsenal of in-your-face selections.  

Now based in London, the DJ has locked in a residency with Netil Radio and appearances on HOR Berlin and Foundation.fm. The young talent has also already carved out a steady path and appeared at festivals such as Risen and Wigflex Festival. 

Whilst also standing as a member of the formidable collective Team Wobiey alongside Mixtresss, OHMYDAIS and Ell Murphy. Faye is undoubtedly one to watch and we invite her for the 34th mix of the series.
