Growing up I felt like I had to learn a lot on my own. Like how birds and bees is not a person lol  it is when you’re talking about getting it on lol. And that’s OK, it was fun to grow but it definitely would’ve been easier if someone could have broken things down for me a little bit more. In this song I talk about how I learned a lot from my sisters, how I ran to them for advice. I kind of came up with rules to live by from that.

Don't Think About It [Lyrics Explained]

Even when I was young I knew that a limit is something you place on yourself. If you don’t set a limit then, limitations simply don't exist. Growing up people would always ask what I wanted to be, who I wanted to become. Other girls wanted to be veterinarians 	or i don't know- fairies. I was a stubborn one, could never give an answer. I kinda wanted to be everything, I knew I could be anything. I didnt wanna be limited to whatever my answer may be that day or week. I didn’t want to be boxed in. 
I still reside on the outskirts of that “box”. Right now - I’m on planet b: population 1. In my own little world. Got a cute apartment on the corner of nothing and everything. Turns out when you completely dedicate yourself to art. You isolate yourself from a lot of other things. Like people, your friends, your siblings. And places, like everywhere- except the corner store. But Listen- this is no kumbaya-now-life-is-amazing type deal. I’ve had my cry in the corner. I’ve had my kiss on the mirror. Good day or bad day- it starts and ends the same: a happy pill in the morning. Sleeping pill at night. and a song gets written somewhere in between those. So Earth to whoever can hear me: this is no fucking sos. It’s real life. And the only thing i ever wanted to be- no. The only thing I know how to be is maya. Like I said I don’t really do boxes but, here's a bracket for you. B[1]

Introducing B[1] - Maya B

Here's a voice memo of me writing 'Eyes Closed' off my debut EP 'B[1]'. At this moment I was sitting in front of the computer staring at protools recording into my iPhone memos what I had written so far. It's a really personal song and I had no idea it would end up on this project.. so happy it did.
