“Walk Alone” is a song inspired by the current conversations that are happening around women’s safety, the culture of victim blaming and the pure desire to walk alone as a woman without fear of attack or abuse.  These deep injustices that women feel on a daily basis compelled Maya to write this song, harking to her own fears.  The chorus features the anthemic refrain “All I want to do is walk alone”; a simple, but powerful statement.

The song has already had its' debut air play on BBC Introducing, who described it as “Absolutely stunning, haunting rock”.  This alternative rock track features fierce guitars, strong bass, pounding drums and soaring vocals.  For fans of PJ Harvey & Garbage.

“Nightfall” is a song inspired by bad habits and dark thoughts coming to light at night.  A time when vulnerability and darkness rise to the surface.  The chorus features the anthemic refrain “I am holding on when night falls, for my life”.

British Indian Rock Artist, Maya Lakhani (My-ah La-khan-ee), is releasing her highly anticipated self-produced 4th single “Torn In Two” on Friday 13th January 2023 9AM, a fierce & energetic alt rock track.  Just like her previous singles; Maya wrote, recorded & produced this track entirely from her bedroom, performing all guitars & vocals.  Maya learnt to do this out of necessity in lockdown, but has fallen in love with producing her tracks in this way.  The song was mixed by Grammy winning engineer Adrian Bushby (Muse, Foo Fighters).  It has already been played by BBC Radio 1 and BBC Introducing.  “Torn In Two” is a song about feeling continually conflicted about a person and battling between forgiving or just walking away and forgetting entirely.

Written, recorded & produced by Maya in her bedroom, a skill Maya taught herself in lockdown 2020, the song is about finding freedom from others' opinions and feeling like she’s found her happy ending in life, through love & making music. Maya performed this track live at her BBC Live Lounge session recently, creating a buzz & anticipation around it with listeners. Mixed by Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro), it's the first single from her upcoming 2025 debut EP.

After a standout year, with performances at Glastonbury on the BBC Introducing stage, appearing on BBC News, doing a BBC Live Lounge Session & playing her first headline show; British Indian Independent rock artist Maya Lakhani released her atmospheric alt rock single, "Fall For Me," on Friday 2nd May 9AM to all streaming platforms.

“Fall For Me” is an anthemic alt rock love song. Written, recorded & produced by Maya, a skill she taught herself in lockdown 2020, it’s inspired by 00’s teen movie prom scenes.  A shoegaze inspired alternative love song about 2 people falling for each other simultaneously.  Maya performed it at her BBC Live Lounge session, creating a buzz & anticipation with listeners. The filmed session & official music video will also be released in May. The track has already had its' first radio play from Radio 1's Jodie Bryant, ahead of its' release, with Jodie saying "She's a real rock chick, carving her own niche, her own genre".  Melita Dennett also played it on BBC Introducing.

In her visuals for this track, Maya blends her heritage with her rock style, as a proud Indian woman she wants to be seen & heard in the rock scene. If you can see it, you can be it. MAYA LAKHANI - FALL FOR ME

Maya Lakhani, a British Indian female rock artist is releasing her debut solo single “The Line” on Friday 27th November.  “The Line” is a song all about learning to set healthy boundaries and starting again, stronger and more confident than before. It was heavily inspired by 2020, which gave Maya a new perspective on life and pushed her to finally step over "the line" and pursue her solo career.  It's a perfect opening statement track for Maya and a 2020 personal anthem.

The production of the song was a lockdown feat, with Maya writing, producing & recording all of the vocals and guitars in her bedroom, never leaving her house to create this record!
