What more could we have wished for our b2b debut on the Robot Heart bus at this year's Burning Man?

As if the sunrise set slot on Friday morning wasn’t already enough of an honor, we all got blessed with the mind-blowing Drone show from Studio Drift while the sky slowly turned blue and red in the morning shimmer. 

Thinking back about this surreal moment still fills us with speechlessness and goosebumps.

Indeed this year's Burning Man theme was spot on: Waking Dreams all around us.

It was a Wednesday afternoon, MW artcar’s engine starts and together with a wave of bikes we begin our ride through the dust. Slaloming through the art installation, encountering the most special and magical moment on the Playa with a beautiful shining sun, we are so impressed by the conviviality of the lifeless desert. Julien on the saxophone, Thomas on the piano, we begin our new live set, relaxed. 
Halfway through, the wind increases, we spot a cloud of dust approaching and in a few minutes, we became surrounded by a dust storm! Praying our gears won’t drop on us and aging by the minute with our white sandy airs and eyebrows, we eagerly continue, until the clouds and the storm starts clearing. The Shining in the Dark. This is the type of moment where you realize the magical events of life, the luck we are blessed to live, and how this experience will forever be engraved in our hearts.

Mayan Warrior is the result of a collaborative project that has united artists, craftsmen, photographers, designers, technologists, architects and musicians from Mexico City and Northern California. 

The project’s original intent was to present to the world the incredible ascent of contemporary Mexican electronic music while paying respect to the deep and ancient sources from which that visual and auditory culture had grown.


Both light and sound are curated by some of the world’s most prominent artists to transport participants to the very origins of the culture – and to a new understanding of contemporary electronic expression.

AND YES: Mayan Warrior is driven from Mexico City to the playa – and back – each year. It's a labor of love and we're glad so many people enjoy it.
