Having already released on Mari.te’s Tresydos imprint and For Playful Manners, French born, Lisbon based artist Penelope is another darling of the selector house scene. Regularly carting her trusty record bag around the world’s airports, she also has a solid foundation in her adopted Portuguese home. When behind the decks, she can often be seen with a glint in her eye and playful smirk on her face as she knows the reaction her insane bombs will have when they drop.

Her cosmic, often dreamy, sometimes pitch black musical direction is fantastically tempered with outrageously diverse moods and basslines to die for. Penelope’s mix for our podcast series is a trip through electro dreams that stops off in all manner of locations along the way. Heavy undulating basslines, arping synths and body rocking drums signal the arrival of yet another finely weighted addition to the InSession lineage. There is no better way to kcik off your weekend.

Trust the Bha crew to bring you some holiday cheer. 

Back in 2011, the Bha crew hosted The Modern Deep Left Quartet, an offset the acclaimed Cobblestone Jazz, led by the singular Mathew Jonson alongside Tyger Dhula, Danuel Tate and The Mole at Aurus, Bombay, one of our (and the city’s) most unforgettable sun-kissed terrace parties, which spawned countless “Sundowner” imitations. 

The music shuttled between jazz improvisation, deep electronic music cuts and some of the irresistibly hypnotic Cobblestone Jazz & Mathew Jonson sound. It was tasty, it was groovy, it got downright rowdy (as most Bha gigs eventually are) as four men huddled behind a ton of analogue gear produced inspired moments of a spontaneous electronic music jam. 

Here’s the recording of that two-hour plus journey as proof.
