Boy North - Was It The Wind That Stirred The Trees (Extended)

Dance music superstar Boris Brejcha has unveiled his hotly anticipated new album Never Stop Dancing, out on 26th November which is also the masked legends Birthday.
  
A twelve-track release, Never Stop Dancing features no fewer than five tracks released as singles across the year. First up is ‘Spicy’, a track that combines driving snares and delicate piano chords with the fleeting vocals of Boris’ real-life partner Ginger. She appears regularly throughout the LP, first on July single ‘Take A Ride’, a meticulously refined techno cut centred around euphoric breakdowns and a pulsating bassline, then on the impulsive, rhythmic techno of the title track, Boris’ most recent single.
Further singles come in the form of ‘House Music’, a collaboration with London pop trio Arctic Lake that pairs feelgood melodies with high-pitched vocals, and ‘Twisted Reality’, which features the kind of euphoric breakdowns only the German maestro could pull off.
Elsewhere, Ginger’s vocoder vocals return amidst the haunting, brooding synths of ‘State Of Mind’ and the potent, trance-inspired big room energy of ‘Underworld’, before the steady kick drum thumps and emotional breakdowns ensure Never Stop Dancing closes out on a moving note.
One of the hardest working artists in the electronic sphere, Boris has already released three EPs this year, ‘Vodka & Orange’, ‘Matrix’ and ‘EXIT’, while in 2020 he dropped acclaimed album Space Diver.
Emerging onto the scene with the double EP release of Monster and Yellow Kitchen back in 2006, Brejcha has spent the years since developing his own style of music, coined as ‘High-Tech Minimal’.
A diverse, dancefloor-focused collection of tracks, Never Stop Dancing is the work of an artist who continues to challenge himself with every release.

The latest edition of our free download series welcomes Hernan Cattaneo, Jamie Stevens and Anton Tumas for their first appearance. Needing little introduction and simply known as the maestro, Hernan Cattaneo is one of the world’s most beloved DJs and his Sudbeat Music imprint is widely regarded as one of the best in its field. With a career that spans over three decades, Hernan Cattaneo has recorded eleven albums, thirty singles and fifty remixes, all while touring the world delighting passionate music lovers with his impeccable taste and exquisite programming skills.

Meanwhile, Australian artist Jamie Stevens has achieved an amazing level of critical and commercial success over the course of his three-decade long career. As one of his country’s most talented and sought-after artists, Jamie has proven his skill in professional sound design, film scores and contemporary electronic music. Prolific and consistent in equal measure, Jamie has enjoyed a creative swell in recent years, landing releases via Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream, John Digweed’s Bedrock Records and Guy J’s Lost & Found.

The third member of the trio is American artist, DJ and promoter Anton Tumas. With a career that spans well over a decade, the Los Angeles resident has left an inevitable mark on the underground scene through his Subtract On The Pier residency and burgeoning Subtract Music imprint.

Last year the trio combined their extensive forces and took to reworking Pink Floyd's ‘Breathe (In the Air)’. Released in 1973 as part of the band’s iconic ‘The Darkside of the Moon’ album, the much lauded song remains as one of the group’s most revered and recognized creations. After several live airings by Hernan Cattaneo, perhaps most notably at BNP Open Life, the trio’s take on the iconic song has been shrouded in mystery, with fans hypothesizing who reworked the track in such grand fashion. Now, fifty years to the day after the original release of the song, we are pleased to offer Hernan Cattaneo, Jamie Stevens and Anton Tumas’ rendition as an exclusive free download. Enjoy.

Residing in Sydney, her productions earn her a regular place in the Beatport Charts and receive playtime from the likes of Black Coffee, Jimi Jules and Rüfüs Du Sol. Here she works with Black Hole Recordings associate Treetalk on a characterful new single. The superb 'Losing My Religion' is a deep and steamy house cut with well-defined drum grooves and melancholic pads that bring a new perspective to this classic song. The vocal is an iconic one that takes on a different feel as it unfolds over the rueful grooves. This marks a fine label debut for this collaborative pair.

Stan Kolev is undoubtedly one of the most skilful electronic music producers to rise to prominence on the global stage over the past 20 years. His trademark sound, featuring haunting melodies and the hypnotizing use of vocals, has earned this Bulgarian-born, Miami-based DJ/Producer, a place as one of the most respected and in-demand producers. His music always shines with a unique formula, blending sophistication with his own distinctive originality.

‘Fill Me Up’ is a master-class in how to create subtle, yet intricately stunning, melody rich, uplifting house music. Layer upon layer of perfectly chosen musical parts, twist and turn, ebb and flow, in an ever-evolving track that demands many listens to fully appreciate the sheer quality and technical ability on display here. Sula Mae is a British singer / songwriter from South London, who draws influences from the Bristol scene (Portishead, Massive Attack and Tricky) and the jazz greats (Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin), and who has previously collaborated with Stan Kolev on a track titled ‘High’ that achieved huge success a year ago on Outta Limits. The studio synergy between these two is so strong again this time round that ‘Fill Me Up’ can be considered their most accomplished creation to date.

Matching the latest release "Equilibrium" by Swiss duo Theydream, on Fckng Serious, a Remix EP with four remixes by great artists is going to be released. The edits have been contributed by artists of the label itself as well as by artists who have not yet released on Fckng Serious. An important feature: Label boss Boris Brejcha himself also contributes his share to this EP. The label is especially happy about this because Boris hasn't released on FS since his deal with Ultra.

Ann Clue, Boris Brejcha, Frost, and Moritz Hofbauer have all given this extraordinary track their very own touch and so four completely different songs were created which have their very own strengths.

With Frost, Theydream got a new star in the techno heaven by their side, who has already released on Anjunadeep and Mau5trap and whose songs are streamed several million times. The Australian even got support from Pete Tong on Radio BBC 1.

Ann Clue delivers as always. The techno diva, who has been under contract with Fckng Serious since the beginning of time, supports her label colleagues in her usual techno-heavy manner with a remix that is suitable for all dancefloors.

Moritz Hofbauer is the second external artist to make his debut on FS with this remix and is convincing beyond all measure. The young DJ practiced early on and his productions are not only presented by him at big festivals, but also appear regularly in sets of well-known DJs like Aka Aka, Township Rebellion, or Dirty Doering.
