Well its been a while but amongst the many studio sessions of working on other artists releases as well as lots of video & visual creating we are pleased to shout that our very own Sprechen CEO Chris Massey aka 'Massey' has found the time to drop his 3rd release on the label with 'It's Stretford, Not Berghain'.

Inside My Head sees the mutant disco flags flying high with a twisted Italo synth bass melody of epic throbbing proportions partnered up with the squelchiest of ear worm style synth stabs that goes truly into head mess territory. A proper 2am, peak time serotonin spanker that sounds like Roman Flügel Geht's Noch? having a session with Fad Gadget.

Named after the legendary party spot in South Manchester (if you know then you know), Gnome Terrace sees Massey step into jacking house territory with an initial deeper journey that features some suitably cosmic-esque strings & synth work form the legend that is Dan Wainwright! Oh and it all explodes in a massive hands aloft piano breakdown for a hefty dose of 'wooooowweeeeee!'

Fortunea Records starts off 2023 with the 4th edition of their VA-series ‚Fortunea Cookies‘ to highlight the status quo in Austrian house music.

A band that is generating buzz in this country right now is Spitting Ibex. Their music is a mixture of funk and heavy rock, in the style of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Prince and Rage Against The Machine. Currently they are touring with their brand-new album‚ E.G.O.‘ through Europe and Peletronic had the honor to remix the title-track of their previous record ‚Love Hate Fear Fate‘. In this ‚Disko Miks’ he transforms the song into a driving house weapon.

In 2021 Nick Hanzo released his ‚Candy Places‘ EP. And on this record was a memorable abstract lo-fi house track called ‚Saturn Nate’ that gets on FC4 a treatment by Klaus Benedek. In this new version he accelerates the speed and focuses even more on the aspect of space travel with the addition of sound fx, pads, pianos and a Italo disco-inspired baseline.

Of course this release has not only remixes of previous tracks, but also 2 originals! The B-side features Dzc. again with her ‚Expressions‘ of night culture. Caution! This will catapult the crowd up to new heights. An energetic peak-time tune that delves deep into 90s house and trance sonic images.

And finally Markus Quittner returns from Linz and brought his ‚Game‘ to the table. A board full of bouncing dices, strong drum patterns and funky orchestrations. A pleasure for the ears.

Fortunea Cookies Vol. 4 will come out on the 31st of march 2023 in its digital form and later this year on white limited vinyl too. Don’t sleep on this

As electronic music reaches ever higher BPM, 6tizen takes another path: largo and refined.

Introducing Burden of choices, where a stompy bass/rhythm meets deranged synths much like Cliff Martinez’s The Knick OST. Plaintive portamento pads and chopped bleeps supplement the scoreboard. Indie-dance veteran Sascha Funke beefs the beat up, turning it into a proper dancefloor banger. Is it shallow or shallower? The question feels like a dumb artificially generated-one. A nasty bass layered with high saturation intertwines with a luminous 32-steps-melody. The refined breaks blend cheering-acid-lines with melancholic pads, forming harmony sparkles. Sam Goku pitches the track tempo up and uses complex rhythm patterns on which divine arpeggios dance languorously.

Four various cuts take the shape of an invitation to the voyage just like the soothing cover.

Bytes is proud to announce Sun Moon Town Versions, a companion piece to last year’s EP, on which Steve Queralt, bass player of pioneering shoegazers RIDE, joined forces with the writer and film-maker MIchael Smith for a stunning four-track EP featuring Steve’s music and Michael’s spoken-word musings.
 

On Versions, the four tracks have been reimagined by Nandele, Flug 8, GLOK (Steve’s RIDE bandmate Andy Bell) and Nina Walsh, kindred spirits and treasured members of the extended Bytes/Ransom Note family.

Premiering here is the GLOK remix, continuing Andy’s hot streak under his electronic alter-ego, which has seen him deliver stunning remixes for Dot Allison, Maps and A Place to Bury Strangers. For his rework of ‘Chaldean Oracle’, Andy eschews Michael’s vocal almost entirely, transforming the track into a Detroit dub-techno monster that has echoes of Bandulu and Carl Craig in its shimmering melodies, eerie distortion and pounding drums.

As well as these four new remixes, due to popular demand the release also features instrumental versions of the original tracks, with fans keen to hear Steve’s exceptional electronic soundscapes in isolation. It’s out on July 21, available digitally and a limited edition cassette, only available from Bytes Bandcamp.

Deep in the heart of the forest, Justin Robertson’s record played a mysterious melody that echoed through the ancient trees. The Deadstock 33 beat was magical vibration coursed through the forest floor, summoning a swarm of happy spiders. These mystical arachnids weaved a glistening sticky web, spun with strands of pure joy. As the music intensified, the spiders danced on the strands, their tiny bodies pulsating with rhythm. The web stretched higher and higher, forming a bridge that led to a hidden realm. Curious adventurers crossed the bridge, stepping into a world where dreams came alive and music held the power to unlock unimaginable wonders.

The title track jams along with insistent Rhodes chords and dubby chords and drum fills that give a nod to his time spent living and recording reggae musicians in Jamaica, while 'Side Effect' heads into dreamier territory with its chuggy tempo, '70s film score strings, twinkling electric pianos and guitar glissandos. 'Start It Up' recalls golden age hip-hop with its taut drum break and melancholy key scales and chords, and 'Green Time' finishes off in beguiling style with a hypnotic and darkly-tinged tribal rhythm.

Cosmica Bandida's debut studio album "Lagrimas Saladas" is an amalgam of sounds influenced by the diverse backgrounds of the members, who find themselves in Munich a city where the leftovers of cosmic music and 70s disco meet cumbia and tropical vampirism. Dark cumbia and psychedelic music collide with the moods of space disco in an album that engages the body. The first two songs that open the record, "5K Caballo" and "Lágrimas Saladas" explore the textures of synthesizers and the atmospheres of Colombian public pools in incandescent villages, while "Pájaro del Desierto" paints desert landscapes influenced by Turkish and Egyptian psychedelic music. Closing the A-side with "Salsa Bandida" the band pays tribute to the basic and classic salsa rhythm in a Lo-fi reinterpretation with the Bogota fashion of cold and mountainous tropical music making.

On the flip side, a group of eight remixers has united to deliver remixes for all the Club enthusiasts out there. Lipelis sets vinyl lovers on fire with his Dubby Disco Remix of "Salsa Bandida", while MaSpaventi, Volta Cab, Los Pulpitos, and Hektisch Sprengen DJs bring their soulful and dubby trip-hop torch songs to the release. Prepare yourself for Grischerr & Heap's glitchy and deconstructed industrial reggaeton remix of "Pájaro del desierto", along with a powerful deconstructed club beatdown by Kobermann.
