"She walks in beauty" - it was a favourite poem of Jacqueline Kennedy. Written by Lord Byron in 1814, one can argue, represents an idea of a woman beaming with confidence. My setting originally was a little more elaborated, and was a part of opera "Requiem for an icon".  Big thanks to Nederlands Kamerkoor Nederlands Kamerkoor for such a fantastic job. Due to corona regulations, no close mics could be placed, so enjoy lots of room (with a compromise on diction).

1983 - trilogy for three voices

It's highly possible that no amount of signal amplification will help the research and that fuses will be burnt in the process. Instead, let's achieve a breakthrough elsewhere. Though there's no “inward journey” to do, no ritual to perform here. The mind might be fucked, hands – tied, place – still the same. Yet, the person is lucid. At times, technology is not about reaching out to a higher plane but about sharpening the point from which the signal is emitted. Then the person might actually realize that they're made of the following: gum, ooze and one rough stitch. Now, the person picks up a bassline and uses it fluctuation to remind oneself that they, too, can assume a new shape. How is the shape assumed then? Not so quickly. But for good!

Mazewski - Breakthrough Listen

SlapFunk are back once again with another solid EP made to freak your speakers and terrorise your tweeters. This time however they dig 4 killer club cuts from the vaults of their extended family and VBX resident Ferro.

Mostly known for his prowess behind the decks, Ferro is also skilled in the studio as these minimal stripped down grooves show whilst continuing the maximal funk of the previous double EP release by Tommy Vicari Jnr.

All four tracks have an improvised live feel with arrangements that subtly evolve whilst smacking and slapping in all the right places, guaranteed to get the heads down and fists punching the air. Tried and tested there’s no doubt that this EP will deliver on the dancefloor.

It’s with great pleasure that we get to not only present some of the best dutch talent again on the label but also a dear friend of the SlapFam.

LOSOUL is back on SLICES OF LIFE with two minimal house gems!

Frankfurt-based DJ and producer legend @losoul  is renowned for his unique sonic language and deep, captivating grooves.
On his latest release for the Berlin imprint, the tracks take us on a journey back to the roots of minimal house - raw, stripped-down, and deeply immersive.

"Post Service Pop" on the A-side flows deep and funky, spreading pads like hot oil, topped with subtly modulated vocal snippets.

"Modesty Bump" on the B-side dives into rawer territory with high-energy sounds and edgy sonic sparkles, while maintaining that minimalistic, steady, driving groove we all love in Losoul’s work: groovers and grinders for the long-distance runner’s soundtrack.

Baby Fate

This track is a collaboration with my university friend, Akito Ikemoto.
Although he hasn’t released any music yet, I first noticed his talent during our final composition critique. While many students submitted tracks packed with technical elements, he was the only one who presented a UK jazz style groove reminiscent of Tom Misch that valued “space” in the music.
In that moment, I fell in love with his songwriting.
From then on, we started sharing our own tracks with each other, which eventually led to this collaboration.
His compositional skills are truly outstanding, and I’m genuinely happy that we were able to create this piece together.
