It was unlikely that an artist from Austria would become world famous back in the eighties. Falco was one of the few who actually made it internationally. With numerous of hits under his belt, he topped the charts with almost all his releases during 1984 – 1986. He’s the best selling artist ever from Austria with over 20 millions album sold. What about tracks like Jeanny, Rock Me Amadeus and the earlier Der Kommisar. But we’re here for another reason, and it’s the uber cool Vienna Calling that he made in 1985. 

Martin Brodin made an edit especially for a Vienna gig last year, and it went down with a storm. So he decided the rest of the world also should have the chance to take part of it. We also invited the up and coming Norwegian artist Jarle Bråthen (one part of Ytre Rymden Dansskola. He’s part of the second wave of the Norwegian Nu Disco scene that is n it’s uprising.

It is the end of a long and dusty road for compilation series, The Wild Army, with Volume 8 the final instalment. Victory can be claimed over, err, something (mediocre music/dance floors/humans).

True to form, it's a global EP with artists from Mexico City, Sydney, Naples, and Hebden Bridge. First up, label favourite La Guardia De La Luz does what he does best, with en epic psychedelic disco mid-tempo chugger. Subtle rhythm guitar, bouncing bass and 80s pads set the scene for strings and stabs as they work their magic.

Next up, Uomo Meccanico takes the red eye for a late night hypnotic slice of electronic house music. Shimmering stabs, trippy pads and filtered vocal sample build into epic deepness. One for the floor as the light creeps in at 6am and everything starts going sideways.

Johnny Deep takes his electronic funk low and slow. Pops, glitches, and burbles provide some serious swing over a bottom end that rides the sub. Slow burning dance floor ignition guaranteed. 

Finally, Flash Atkins brings the soul with a track that is as loose and easy as a Mediterranean summer. Amy Collins sings of an early morning walk home after a loved up encounter on the dance floor as Dan Goldman lays the keys and grooves for some disco love.

Marco Lazovic shows his jazzy electro side with this new outing on Scruniversal. It's a sixth EP from this label and another one you need to cop. The A-side tune is 'Amour Translanatique' and is one doused in romantic pad work, reverential moods and gentle drums that soothe the mind, body and soul. 'Uslada' is more upbeat but no less deft and silky. This one has lush cosmic chords and wispy melodies peeling off the busy beats which have a whiff of liquid jungle goodness to them. Two high-class cuts for tender dancefloors.

Slam City Jams are back with their first compilation. A 4-tracker packed up with five amazing artists from all over the globe. And let’s face it: It’s a breaky affair!
Starting off with our Munich homeboys from COEO. Known for their funked up house tunes on Toy Tonics, they start into complete new realms this time. ‚Never Going Home‘ is the perfect example of a dope broken beat electro tune, that with it’s weird synth line & smooth breakdown never failed on a gig in the last months.
On A2 the man Doppelate from London (Let’s Go Swimming Rec.) exactly hits the spot with mezmerizing synths, tight drum programming and a crunchy acid bassline on ‚Four Feet Up The Stairs‘.
The flip side starts off with label head honchos Rhode & Brown, who teamed up with their buddy Leo Woelfel from Austria, both known for releases on Toy Tonics, Public Possession or Let’s Play House. Here the name ‚More Drama (Less Hysteria)’ says it all: Pure drama on this breaky acid tune!
To round up this great package we’ve got Marco Lazovic from Moscow on B2. He digs deep‚ In The Jungle’ with rolling 707 drums, dreamy synths and this tropical atmosphere we can’t get enough of.
