Noire and Akito release their debut collaborative project, a five-track EP developed over a year and a half span of sparse studio link-ups. Working in and around the limitations of the global pandemic, the body of work draws heavily on their influences of Grime, UK Funky, Jersey Club, and more, bottlenecked and filtered through the duo’s signature sounds of heavy-hitting drum & synth patterns, designed with the dance in mind during a club-free blip.

One of our favourite producers, Farsight, returns with a new single ‘Tusi’. 

Known for his vibrant, high energy records that are sure to bring the fire to any party, the Oakland-based artist continues to channel that energy into this compilation. “Tusi is inspired in equal parts by guaracha, baltimore club and pure imagination-- To me it is the sound of a high energy poolside party with your best friends <3” - Farsight

The track is taken from femme culture’s compilation series, who will be releasing their fourth volume this Friday in aid of U.N. Women. Funds raised by HeForShe Vol. 4 will be donated to UN Women and will be split equally between their Safe Spaces Now programme (which looks to create safe public spaces for all women and girls) and their Ukrainian relief efforts - delivering on the ground for women and those at risk.

femme culture is also pledging to donate 10% of profits from future releases to a charitable cause decided in consultation with the release artist.

On ‘Pots & Pans’, Le Motel uses organic elements stacking them against stems filled with bass and drums, adding to his excellent back catalogue of self-releases and collaborative projects.

Leading with ’Azande’, the track blends UK Garage, dub techno, and jungle and features hypnotic chants from Wayo - a small village in South Sudan. In this village music is king and everyone is a master of their shared sound which summons ancient polyrhythms of Africa’s newest nation.

‘Shaolin’ is a dark dubstep production featuring Nigerian MC, Magugu. The Shaolin training teaches you how to be sharp in a dangerous environment, ‘we come in peace but ready to defend our peace’.

On the last two tracks (‘Work Your Back’ and ‘Ay Chica’), Le Motel dominates with a brilliant blend of his varying influences whilst staying true to his focus of driving drums and weighty bass.
