Another older song from 2008. This one was supposed to be a collaboration with two other emcees titled "On Thin Ice", but the track was never finished. One of the emcees, who also produced the track, had eventually stopped making music, so it'll remain unfinished. Either way, this is my verse. I've performed this a few times live, either as an a capella or over the "Death of Autotune" beat.

Headcase - Hip-Hop Is Alive (2008)

Here's another joint that was in the running for the album, but it got left on the cutting room floor. This is a collab with a Fayetteville emcee (Royal Entry) and an at-the-time Fayetteville producer (Spock Jenkins, who now goes by Tew). Basically its another lyrical assault on wack emcees, with a hook borrowed from Jay-Z. 

I originally recorded my part with Manifest Beats of the 1100 Hunters, a group that Royal Entry is a member of. But I wasn't satisfied with the mix. When I started recording with Justin Aswell of Mr. Invisible, I decided to go ahead and record my parts again. But I decided to leave it off the album because some of the references I make (the wackness of Kimbo Slice, Kanye's VMA incident with Taylor Swift) were pretty dated. 

This is a rough mix of the song that I did myself, so if it sounds bad, you can blame me. 
 
One more note: the picture of me and Entry was taken in January 2014, well after this song was finished.

This is a personal song about clinical depression and anxiety, and how it's driven me insane. The song is produced by myself and Justin Aswell: I wrote the music and played the electric guitar, while Aswell played the bass and added a bunch of awesome touches to the song that made the final product sound incredible.

This is the political song of the album, where I talk about the use of entertainment to lull us into a state of complacency, as if to brainwash us into thinking that everything is fine. A classic 'marathon song', in which I rap one long verse with no breaks or hooks. But instead of just doing punchlines for five minutes straight, I decided I'd have a point to it, in this case, showing wack rappers how to become better emcees. Of all the songs on the album, this is the one that I'm the most proud of. It's basically a new school version of Slick Rick's "Hey Young World," in which I give advice to the younger generation on how to survive in this cruel world. In a time where Hip-Hop has been watered down and forced to favor egocentric chants of money, sex, drugs, and living life in the fast lane, North Carolina-based emcee/singer-songwriter Headcase is a throwback to when music was made respectably by artists who put heart and soul into their craft. Headcase (born Nick Napier in May 1987) first started writing his own Hip-Hop songs in 2000, originally influenced by MTV's Lyricist Lounge Show, but didn't go public with his talent until his first year of High School in 2001. Since then, he has carefully crafted his style and defining what kind of artist he is.

Headcase is a full-fledged jack of all trades: he's a emcee, a singer, and a multi-instrumentalist, with his specialty being the guitar. Inspired by the likes of Bob Dylan, B.B. King, OutKast, and Masta Ace, he incorporates elements from many different musical genres, such as Hip-Hop, Rock and Blues, and mixes different styles together to create an innovative brand of music that is able to appeal to folks from every walk of life. He's an artist that refuses to let himself be boxed into a corner, one that comes around only once in a blue moon. Not for the mainstream, not for the underground, just for the people.
