The light was shining through the blinds

I got up, texted you a morning gif

I opened the blinds as the church bells sung

the nostalgic colours of my youth.

For a moment there it was familiar again

the laboured sounds of trams

the smell of coffee in the morning

the pale colours of a winter’s sun

your warm hand and an ice cream cone

mint chocolate and stracciatella.

A time and place so precious

before the advent is up

I remember what it was like

to feel at home

before the sand runs out

and the dust is back in sight

could I hold it in my hand?
