What Was That

Collide

This is the studio version of a song long overdue. I wrote it leading up to my high school graduation, and it serves as a bit of a memoir for those looking back on their childhood while approaching the cusp of the real world.

Fare Thee Well

First off, the song is adapted from a poem of the same name by Brandy Nālani McDougall, a native Hawaiian author. The vast majority of the words and most of the phrases sung come from her pen. I do not speak for her, but being that these are her experiences and I am an outsider, I have undeniably tainted their existence with my adaptation. I do not own the rights to her poem, nor do I profit in any way from sharing this work.

I am currently studying in Auckland, NZ, and the song is a project for my Pacific Literature class. It is intended to echo the poem, breathing an added essence of life into it and its message. Waiting For The Sunrise At Haleakalā

Middlebury College is one of those New England liberal arts schools founded as a religious institution that is now anything but. Through a rather tumultuous history, religious and otherwise, it has emerged as one of the nation's best colleges. Its rise has also coincided with an era when students seem more stressed than ever. Stressed Devoutly follows the story of one long graduated Middlebury student to understand the roots of student stress at Middlebury and how past solutions might inform those for today.
