With this record, The Como Mamas join forces with the boys of Menahan Street Band (billed pseudonymously here as The Radiant Rhythm Band) to lay bare the funkier side of gospel music. 

“The rhythms we all play were already right there in their vocals,” explains drummer Homer Steinweiss, “so it felt natural to lay down the grooves behind them.” Thomas “T-N-T” Brenneck, the up-and-coming producer who brought us both Menahan Street Band and Charles Bradley, presided over the collaboration, which took place in the old Dunham Studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

The Como Mamas - Out of the Wilderness

My first "finished" song in a good 15 years.  This is an un-subtle tribute to LCD Soundsystem.

It's also a collaboration with peanut_gallery, who provided an excellent electric piano solo, which I ended up using too little of to do it justice, and some additional Eden pad work.  Thanks for the help man, it wouldn't have been as good without you!

I wrote the strings loop a while back, and couldn't figure out what to do with it. The rest of the song pretty wrote itself in a big lump a few days ago. A few rounds of editing, and here it is.

Thankfully, this is not a song based on personal experience, but rather is a mixture of a story told to me, and imagining how differently my life would have turned out if I'd made a similar decision.

I'm a working stiff in the gaming industry.  I had a small recording studio in the 90's that cost way too much money, and was replaced entirely by new tech within a few years.

Now I've discovered NanoStudio, and am back in the game! 

I'm *very* interested in collaboration. Genius lies at the intersection of groups.

My style is the pop side of electronica with a history of non-electronic alt rock. If I could be 25% as cool as James Murphy I'd be happy with my life.
