Seasoned house favourite Demarkus Lewis lands on the ever more vital Vibe Me To The Moon Records

The US mainstay drops a trio of buttery deep house delights

Demarkus Lewis has been a real voice in the house world for more than 25 years. His music has come on influential staples like Large Music, King Street and Nervous, as well as his own Grin Music, Grin Traxx and Grin & Bass. He's a versatile artist with an authentic style, whether making tech, jack, deep or Afro-inspired sounds, and for that reason continues to DJ celebrated clubs across the US and Europe on a regular basis. This time out he gets deep and seductive on Nightsteppaz's sophisticated Vibe Me To The Moon Records.  

'Cold Heart' is a silky smooth groove, stripped back to the essentials but beautifully warm. The smeared chords make that so, while hooky motifs and twinkling pads bring a musicality that is all too rare. The icing on the cake is a smouldering r&b vocal that's aloof and magnetic. Slow-burn gem 'Love Still Lives' oozes late-night romance. The bubbly bassline nudges the groove forward with subtle swing that nods to classic US garage and a vocal that's equal parts tender and intoxicating. The whole thing is wrapped in syrupy pads that melt into the mix for after-dark love-ins.‘ Closer Touch My Love’ is another mood-soaked house cut for cosy corners and close company. Gentle, skipping drums create a soft, swaying rhythm as splashy cymbals shimmer like candlelight and a cooing neo-soul vocal whispers sweet nothings. 

These are the kind of love-up deep house tracks that quietly wrap around you and make the real world fade away.

Mz amERIKA aka MC Party Mouth was a staple on the SF House Scene from '93 to '98. Club DV8T, Club Townsend, 1015 Folsom, The Pit, a few others, but most importantly she could be found at the END UP on Sunday morning to Monday Morning. She is most known for her non-stop twirling, floor tours, confetti throwing, rainbow suspenders (90s) and tool belt (now).

 "I am building a better house on the dance floor, I have to have a place for my tools and my towel. I'm here to work this floor, you never know what tools you might need." - Mz amERIKA

Most notably you can recognize her on any dance floor, calling out to the music and creating an inclusive vibe for all the groovers. She records whatever comes out and uses it to create funky fun house lyrics with attitude. She began writing lyrics in 2005, but tucked them away. She wasn't ready. 10 years later the lyrics resurfaced and she knew it was time. She's putting all her love, light, power and wisdom into this house to create a true vibe. Keep an ear out for her new "Love Note House Music" collaborations with local and global DJs.
