The Sound of Data Transmissions-Electromagnetic Fields

For the "Transform" trailer demo song I mixed a few of my favorite sounds from  Jean-Edouard Miclot sound effects library new from Twisted Tools and tried to create a short slow piece that really showcased the versatility of some these sounds within the context of a musical composition. I also included a few additional sound effects and percussion sounds from my personal library that are also included in the release.
Recorded/processed/mangled at 24-bit 96-khz...

I was not expecting this sound from a train pass by. Tonight I recorded some trains passing by along the lake in a very secluded area. The MKH-8040ST rig was set close to the tracks and captured this strange sound. As the train was approaching from around the corner of a cliff, the tracks started to sound electric!

Thunderstorm 1 HD SFX Library

Flying Insects HD 1 has some crazy sounds from real live insects recorded at 24-Bit 96kHz over the last few years. Insects are really tough to record. For one, they really do not take well to trainers as they have a mind of there own (I think). Second, they are not very loud unless they bang into the microphone at high speed so getting good recordings is a challenge. These recordings come from chance encounters with the insect population here in North Idaho where we have a few bugs.

"Mechanical Morphs" - Sample Library  - Short Preview

Here is the FREE crazy sound of the week for Sept 9, 2012. Warning: this track contains mild profanity from yours truly in reaction to some of the ricochet sounds. Enjoy!

These sounds are from a high mountain cliff location in North Idaho. The guns used were a suppressed Savage .22 rifle and a Mossberg 590A shotgun (shooting a shell called "Double Mule". The microphone used was a Sennheiser MKH-8040ST set to X/Y at 90 degrees. A complete blog post is coming soon!

Multi-channel field recording of 12,000 Italian bees at Buckeye Creek Farm Cherokee GA.
The setup consisted of four wooden packages of bee's containing 3000 bees each stacked on top of each other creating a wall of swarming noise. 

 Captured with the Neumann RSM 191-A/S and DPA SMK 4060 omnidirectional miniature stereo microphones. Everything was recorded at 24-bit 96khz with the Sound Devices 744T and Mixpre-D. Free Download
