Who better to kick off the inaugural release of SOBO [Sounds Of Beaubien Ouest] than Patrick Holland, best known as Project Pablo. Affiliated with the Canadian Riviera's 1080p troupe, as well as Seb Wildblood's Church and Lone's Magicwire – Holland now adds Beaubien Dream as the fourth instalment to his 12" series. The Beaubien connection comes from Montreal's Rue Beaubien, of which Holland is a resident. SOBO is headed up by fellow longstanding citizens of the Beaubien Ouest hood, Arbutus Records and their extended family – of which Holland is an instrumental part.

An initial teaser of the EP's opening "Closer" was aired publicly during Holland's BR London set back in October, as well as his NTS appearance with Lone and Gabriola earlier this year. Now, after a patient seven-month wait, we can finally wrap our mitts around it in its entirety. Alongside its two subsequent components, the track acts as a homage to Holland's home. With its distinctive Dx7 melodies, jingly percussion provided by bells (of the cow variety amongst others) and an insatiable groove growing lazily throughout – "Closer" is instantaneous happiness.

Mikey soon caught the bug, performing at Highest Point Festival alongside names like Jackmaster, Sasha and Jasper James as well as S2S Festival in the Park, warming up the stage for names such as Chris Lorenzo, Skepsis and Darkzy. Mikey has also supported massive names with his residency at LUEDMS in Lancaster including Secondcity, PAWSA, Elliot Adamson, Leftwing & Kody, Mason Maynard, Kreature, blanc, Michael Bibi and Mason Collective.

Mikey also performed at the Pierjam closing party in Blackpool alongside Gorgon City, Hannah Wants, Sam Divine, Low Steppa, The Mason Collective. 

Having started his own productions in early 2018, Mikey has received support from several labels with releases on Koda Recordings, Noisy Neighbours, Serena Music and DeepDownDirty Music with further support from names such as Marco Carola, Joseph Capriati and more! Working hard on his sound he is expecting to grow further as a DJ and Producer in 2019, with major labels
 showing interest in his music.

SlapFunk Records strikes again with a solo EP by none other than Huerta. While having released a wide variety of music with a strong own identity, it’s fair to say that he fully incorporated the SlapFunk vision on this one. Even though all 5 tracks have a different character, they all share the same energetic beats specially designed for the dancefloor. This reflection is clearly the core of the artwork made by Firpo a.k.a. Freshcore. On the other hand, the graphic design by Studio Airport truly does justice to the the work of both Huerta and Firpo it deserves. Huerta his strong musical and intelligent identity, makes him one to keep an eye on closely.
