An expert at creating harmonious illusions of sound, Germany’s POWEL always finds a way to thread together natural elegance and tasteful patience in music. Having learned the piano at a young age and subsequently performed regularly with bands and even an orchestra, POWEL's palette of music has a vast and thorough foundation that is influenced by the people and places he comes across during his visits. The sound artist's unique touch as a musician is heard by how he captures warm, celestial vibes filled with airy atmospheres together with delicate rhythms and tells a melancholic story fused with ghostly, low slung cuts that are rich with nuance and subtlety.
POWEL steadily explores this duality in sounds not only throughout his discography but in his performances around the world which include his annual performance on the ROBOT HEART bus at Burning Man and residencies with the ALL DAY I DREAM family around renowned guru LEE BURRIDGE as well as BEHROUZ’ intimate home in Miami, DO NOT SIT ON THE FURNITURE, and one of the finest institutions in New York City, BESPOKE MUSIK.

Bespoke Musik follows up their acclaimed VA: Volume One with Powelstad, an EP that is equal parts groove and storytelling, courtesy of longtime collaborators (and borderline telepathic duo) Powel and Christian Voldstad. 

The story began in 2015 at Brooklyn’s Lot 45, where Powel dazzled on the decks and a young Christian Voldstad warmed up the crowd, proving that even scrappy openers can steal hearts. Nearly a decade of countless B2B sets, Burning Man, Berlin, and beyond, the two have fine-tuned their chemistry and along the way, listeners coined the name “Powelstad”.  

Powelstad EP is the result of more than a year of collaborative sessions in Powel’s Berlin studio. It’s a concise expression of both artists' shared musical tastes, incorporating hardware synthesizers and recorded organic instruments. Rounding things out is a stunning remix by Samihe of Minds Alike Records—because perfection always needs a cherry on top.  

Bespoke Musik is proud to finally release the shared production output from some of our favorite family members. Powelstad is not just quality house music; it’s a vibe, a journey, and a gentle reminder to stretch before you hit the dancefloor. Out Jan 31st, 2025 on Bespoke Musik—don’t sleep on it.

Recently, the moment felt right to revisit my slinky series, mixes that are slower, drawn out, stretched. A bit different than my usual material, this one is heady and abstract, delving into some dub influences and even a touch of breaks. The title reflects a sense of tension throughout, tracks that are trying to take us some place. But as is the existential condition, we can't really know where.

Canopy Sounds presents a spooky Halloween extended special from the dynamic duo, Death On The Balcony.

The combined forces of Mark Caramelli & Paul Hargreaves have built up an extensive catalog over the past ten years.  Their style fuses a range of influences from Disco, classic Deep House, as well as minimal and deep techno. With such a variety of tunes under their belt, they have a unique ability to concoct unique and enticing vibes to a myriad of settings and atmospheres for dancers all around the globe.  DOTB have become known as masters of the art of the remix, as they have been able to apply their delicate and rhythmic touch to all sorts of different genres and artists, most recently to Black Sabbath's, "Planet Caravan" - which was just released as a free download.  

Death on the Balcony’s release schedule is continually active with them releasing & remixing internationally with the likes of All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep, Kindisch, Akbal Music, Connaisseur, Suol, and Pets & Exploited.

The pair have been in the kitchen, cooking up some sonic flavors that should be reaching your ears this coming December, 2018.

Intricate grooves, dreamy textures, playful whimsical bounce. Over the course of an electronic music obsession more than 20 years strong, Mark Slee has evolved a deep musical style that reflects a unique personality, blending intuition and introspection with a methodical approach to production and curation.

Fully committed to digging the troves of modern dance music, Slee aims to uncover releases that stand out. His monthly mix show on Proton Radio showcases his discoveries, with over 100 mixes presented in the past decade. In 2016, Slee joined forces with musical partner Atish to form the label Manjumasi. Debuting with his own Nocturne Belle EP, Manjumasi celebrates quirky dance music that explores new territory without forgetting the dance floor. Beyond Manjumasi, Slee's original productions and remixes have been released on such imprints as Cityfox, Seven Villas, Kindisch, Everything Will Be OK, Sound Avenue, Lost Diaries, Cosmic Society, Magician On Duty, Nugget, Where the Heart Is, Proton Music, and more. In addition to regular appearances on his San Francisco home turf, Slee's style has earned him DJ sets in notable locales, such as Kater Blau and Sisyphos in Berlin, Cityfox in New York, and Robot Heart.

Since 2016 Slee has also been developing immersive, spatial audio-visual production tools for systems of up to 32 channels via Envelop. Notable live performances with Envelop include MUTEK.SF and FORM Arcosanti.
