Time keeps tickin’, taste the last lickin’, they’re gutting your whole kitchen, throw in the kitchen sink, sanity’s on the brink, and no one’s listening, make a call to my shrink, get voicemail, put the pen to the ink and think, withdrawal, gritting teeth, immune system weak, adrenaline spikes to a peak, the grass meets my cleats, I only got hours before my energy depletes, 100 yard dash and 4 minute mile, only got one pill left in the pile, evil demon on my shoulder starts to smile

The ER would detain me for days, lock me in a padded cage, the time would tick tick slow, straight jacket and intertwined elbows, gotta find a way to get a prescription fast, before hallucination of Egyptian mask, Doorknobs are turning on their own in an altered zone, everyone looks like cop clones, paranoia creepin’ in my chromosomes, shakin’ in my bones…
Psych meds worse than crackrock, stay strapped on the block, fear of being bagged by feds racks my head…

CHORUS:	Wish I could get those years back, wipe the tears back, time-travel to 1985, Back to the Future, Saturday Night Live, brain unfried, get a bigger piece of the American pie before I die, but the longer I wait…tick a time goes by, tick tick-a time goes by ….shoulda had 2 kids and a wife, but all I got is books of rhymes and a mic….tick a time goes by, tick a tick-a time goes by….

Chemical puffs, smack, snack bags and handcuffs, still wearin shoes while streakin in the buff, but I guess I didn’t know when I had enough, still act tough, kick back 3 Magnums, brain spasm, do a somersault through a window, I’m still drunk at the ER, leave after 36 stitches and a most wicked scar, and the next morning straight to the bar, panhandling, pain and muscles cramping, harassed by police for disturbin the peace and drug sampling,

Seems I’ve lost so much time, 10years in the grind, seems like 2016 came 10 years too soon, should be 2006, should be 27, spent ten years in Armageddon, can’t believe it’s been 20 years since I was sixteen and following my dream, best time in my life, full of potential, healthy and clean, but soon came the last scene in high school, the last spool of the reel of good times, it started as insomnia, then anxiety, hypertension, misdiagnosed as depression, never got another session, took the “P” labeled pills, blue….and drowned it in…Pilsner…then started the aggression, 
awake for days, walking for miles and missing all my lessons, dude where’s my car? And where’s my prescription, I can’t read the way it’s been written, I thought I parked over there after day drinking, what the hell was I thinking?

Gearing up in the parking lot of the supermarket,
Am I wearing plastic gloves or were they left at target?
Are we standing 6 feet apart and where’s my cart,
There’s no more eggs, I swear I saw them just before up ahead, up ahead
So many things that we can’t see, and we take for granted, 
this check out line looks gigantic
Will they have any disinfectant wipes, 
I know I’m not their type, and I can’t just show up in the middle of the night
Its taking forever at the self check out, it’ll be another 30min before I even step out
There’s someone coming up the aisle, I better re-route,
it used to have paper products but they’re sold out, people waiting in the corner till they’re rolled out, 
It wasn’t even this bad during Y2k, it’s a hidden enemy that we just can’t slay,
It’ll take time for things to simmer-simmer down, meanwhile we have to talk ourselves down
They might have toilet paper in the next town, at least the price of gasoline is way way down
We are in the middle of “cray” “cray” town, I usually don’t usually use that term, but no one’s around
Have to wait for peak infections for new direction, anxiety is creepy crawling in my midsection
Handshakes and hugs are a thing of the past just for now, we will get through this together somehow
Social distancing and economic pressure, don’t even have to leave home to get another lecture
Where in the hell is our fearless protector, economy will be hard hit in each and every sector
Unprecedented times and percolating rhymes, cabin fever got me crawling up a vine
Even though I know its all just a matter of time, time is standing still and looks like judgement time
Can’t believe things got this way, in this new normal, no need to dress formal,
pajama bottoms damn near all day, prolonged staycation when instead you really 
need a vacay, don’t usually use that term, like “cray”, it just won’t go away, maybe it’ll 
keep the germs away, 
economic stagnation GDP degradation, amid the social trepidation, gotta come 
together as a nation, and the world as a whole, till we take back control, believe in our 
soul, although it takes its toll, it takes its toll
Heart still pounding and the fear is resounding, should I even drink from the drinking fountain?
Step by step as we climb this mountain, as cases mountin, keep things from overcrowdin   
Breathe in love and breathe out doubt, resist the urge to scream and shout, settle down and feel it all out, plant the seeds for tomorrow and I’m sure they’ll sprout
