Sleep Paralysis

The third episode of the Densiflora podcast belongs to the co-founder of Densiflora - @axis_operandi. As he describes his mix: This is a sample of my capabilities when I present my more house-oriented side. To be more precise, you will find here both house and minimal or breakbeat. You'll hear my favourite motifs in this mix, organic beats as well as some kind of trance vibe, but I think the key word of this mix is deepness. I wanted to include a lot of warm up vibe, as well as conduct the story into slightly more ecstatic tones, but without losing the character of the whole mix. I'm not uploading a tracklist, but I can tell you that you'll find tracks by artists such as @thisisalpi, @lukea-sphere, @caldera-caldera, @tammohesselink, @alextea and @3kz for example. What you can hear in Seconde Aride's sets is a medley of sub-heavy, breaksy and deep beats covering a wide range of styles. This one is a rather low-paced ballad weaving somewhere between ethereal deep techno, ambient, and stuff that never asked to be classified. Yet, samples all have an identity, be they recorded from the depth of the sea or generated by the chip of a synth. Seconde Aride approaches djing as a way of aggregating these ecosystems in his own fashion, thus creating new sonic worlds.

Amsterdam based devotee Van Anh is a DJ pur sang with over a decade of experience to her name, making her the respected artist we get to enjoy today. Her sincere love for digging, selecting and technical mixing oozes through every vessel of her body. Although her dedication has always been around, her musical odyssey seems to really have taken a turn since her transition to vinyl. This has not only opened doors to further developing her delicate taste in music but it has given her the chance to fade deeper into the electronic music spectrum.
The name 'Van Anh', which translates to 'clouds', fits her hypnagogic magnetic way of mixing like a glove, allowing her to withdraw from any fixed-genre sets and rather resonate to the sound waves of her liking. Very much like clouds, her sound takes on multiple shapes and forms varying from deep ethereal ambient to hard uncompromising techno. Never monolithic, what makes listening to Van Anh so enjoyable is the intricate way of combining all these sounds, bridging music from the past and the present.
That she knows how to shepherd an audience is underlined by her residencies at Den Haag based The Crave and Rotterdam based Transportbedrijf. The latter is a continuation of Perron, Rotterdam's underground hotspot that has welcomed some of the biggest names in electronic music. Whether it's a warming-up, the peak of the night or a closing set, she will seamlessly move you on the dance floor. Besides from having shared the stage with several heavyweights, Van Anh also hosts her own event in Rotterdam called ISOTOOP - a platform created to explore projects and experiment with sounds as she pleases. The concept is all about channelling new expressions of creativity further into the unknown, in a genuine attempt to open people's minds to new sounds.
