🔸 Great Spirit:  please allow me to break more open to this Life, to hold more wonders inside my heart, and be a vessel of peace and power upon this world 🔸

This musical soul-tapestry – filled with many waves, breaking me open deeper to Life, and all her mysterious cycles--has taken me over 1 years to weave: many many cycles of letting go, sheddings, dying and being re-born with mud and grace, in order to meet this precious Life as it is, with all of it's spectrums. 

These times we are currently living in are filled with countless opportunities to break down and/or to break open:  it is my deep prayer for humanity that we continue to find beauty, grace and empowerment in all that is breaking/crumbling/transforming, inside and outside of us...this musical tapestry is a prayer for the Human Spirit, and for the seeds we plant for the generations to come.

I dedicate this mix to the eternal Life of Liv: thanking you for your presence, your love, your grace, for breaking open human hearts to life...I dedicate this musical prayer to Liv's parents: may they be graced by this eternal love, in all moments of this precious Life.

INTERVIEW : TOM GOLDHAND OF ECSTATIC DANCE AMSTERDAM (Audio/Video)

After a four years break, i'm glad to re-start the "Ecstatic Dance Podcast", featuring interviews with ED organizers, facilitators and DJs, as well as recordings of live sets.

My guest for this episode is a leader, teacher and more recently a close friend.

Tom Goldhand is one of the co-founders of Ecstatic Dance Amsterdam since 2012, and has held many hundreds of ceremonies at the legendary club lite and subsequent venues.
He's also a trained dancer, dance therapist, a contact improv teacher, and a DJ.

For me he is a great source of experience and inspiration, both indirectly when I attended his events and directly through our many personal conversations. 

I appreciate that he doesn't just do things in a certain way, but rather, he can also explain why he's doing it, share past experiences where he learned it, and give examples from adjacent fields. 

For example, listen to the discussion about the placement of the altar and the comparison with medicine circles around the 43 minute mark.

How to create a dance that appeals to more kinds of people, that allows different people to interact and serve each other, and that combines both fun music and therapeutic aspects.

How to increase group cohesion and avoid "bubbles" and a disconnected dance floor.
 
Setting up the space:
Where are the "hot spots" of the dance floor?
Why placing the altar at some spots can lead to "black holes" that interfere with the dance, and how they can be placed to clean and clear problematic areas of the space.
Why altars in medicine circles are so different to altars at Ecstatic Dance events.
 
ED is the easiest event to hold, and hardest event to hold right.
