I have been going thru some of my hard drives and found some songs that I forgot that I've produced.....so I figured I might as well share with folks and actually start an archive of songs on my Soundcloud page. I guess it's a nice way of showing & reminding people that I can make beats & produce....Haha!

In 2009, I dropped an album with my brother Jamall Bufford....you might know him as Buff1 & he's a member of the Athletic Mic League with super producer 14KT and singer you might know of: Mayer Hawthorne, as well as being in a group called The Black Opera with Magestik Legend.

Anyways, Jamall and myself formed a group called "Crown Royale" (thru the suggestion of Mayer Hawthorne & his manager/former MC Jackson Perry of "Now On") and dropped our self titled album on A-Side Worldwide/Fat Beats.  I was particular proud of this project because it was the first time that I did most of the production myself. Before we dropped the album, we wanted to give folks a taste of what to expect from us; so we dropped a Free EP courtesy of 2dopeboyz.  Most of the songs off the EP wasn't even featured on our official album.

This particular track from the EP featured the talented Kam Moye aka Supastition.  It was the first time that Jamall & Supa worked together and these guys sounded like they've been working together for a long time......I was also proud of this track because the production on this contained no samples.  I basically played all the melodies & bassline, did the arrangements, & of course the scratches.  I can't play an instrument for sh*t and this took me a long time to put this track together.  I was proud how it came out.

The coveting of societal acceptance has reached new heights in a social media ("like" based) dominated planet. You find more people looking down (at their phones) then looking up to see what's happening with our culture nowadays; increasingly becoming robots to a system dangling products to the wide eyed eager consumer. "Chrissy" follows a troubled young girl as she finds herself disenchanted and inevitably trapped in a bleak world eclipsed in misery. M-Dot concernedly narrates her ominous downfall while elaborately depicting all the serpents that eat off her along the way. The fictional track evokes reality yet balances a dreary illusion-state throughout. Buckwild (Big L, Biggie, Jay-Z) provides the fittingly dark backdrop.

As M-Dot tells it, he and the legendary producer met in 2017 when they were on the same bill for a show in Switzerland. The two showed mutual admiration for their talents and kept in touch ever since, eventually leading to their making music together. The first result of that work is “The Atonement,” a bars-first, punishing track that demonstrates M-Dot’s love for the art of rhyming. He flexes some crazy patterns and internal rhymes atop Pete’s fittingly chilling instrumental.
