I got Ableton and an ebow over the holidays, decided to make an entry with em. Happy New Year!

Beat Diary #3

My friend and music buddy Kyle (@orenj) passed away this week. Despite living on the other coast, we managed to share music we were working on (yay internet!). He inspired and impressed me with each piece of work he shared, getting better with Ableton Live, as well as improving his music skills. He was a joyous and goofy spirit, loving and kind to everyone. I'm not the best with words, so I made a song in his memory. Rest in peace, Kyle. This one's for you.

Song created for r/songaweek's week 23 dissonance theme. Expanded a riff that's been in my head into a full song. Composed and recorded within a week. The dissonance is a bit subtle, mainly coming from the chord progression and a little with the melody on top.

Submission for Week 26 of /r/songaweek. This week's theme was the Phrygian musical mode (holla at that LIMDAPL). This was mostly recording during a rain storm, hence the name. There is a very subtle track of the storm in there ;)

Been diving into the powers of Ableton, learning how to really make use of its digital processing, effects, EQ, etc, and made a jam along the way. Got my friend AlanMichael (@itsalanmichael) to write some lyrics and melodies over it, which turned it into a full fledged song. Enjoy!
