Sheffield breakbeat champions & ​Club Glow​ collective members ​Denham Audio​ make an appearance on ​Lobster Theremin​ with ​Transcendence​.

Club Culture​ is a heady tribute to UK rave culture, combining classic breaks with a monologue from generations past. Denham Audio speed things up on ​Retort​, fusing their love of breakbeats with a sound palette ubiquitous with acid house. On the flip, patois bars punctuate the bleeps-and-breaks of ​Run Da Ting,​ while the vocal layered between ​Top Boy​’s whirling bass and digitally distorted drum programming may be recognisable to some. Closing track ​Transcendence​ is an ethereal jungle roller with guest vocals from 7ip7o3, that rings true to its name.

‘Transcendence’​ drops Friday 12th March, via ​Lobster Theremin​.

"Months of lockdown boredom and a lack of nightclubs, house parties and festivals, chemically reinforced togetherness and gurns, has resulted in a new 12” by Paul & Shark.

The first single from the record titled ‘Roxanna_Break_Stuff’ incorporates memories of acid bright neons, the ubiquitous smileys, baggy trousers and bucket hats. Pumping drums, funky synth work and a standout vocal edit makes this one a unique and catchy piece of rave music culture.

The track comes accompanied with a remix by Japan’s rising UK garage producer Stones Taro, who's been featured lately in several places with his on target vinyl releases and precise DJ mixes.

We can only hope, but maybe we are on course to experience a “summer of rave” not unlike that of 30 years ago."

Donsurf took the scene by storm through his widely received debut release on ec2a in collaboration with Bakey. Following this, Donsurf has continued to deliver experimental breakbeat and UK garage compositions as seen through single releases on Gimme A Break and Kultura Collective. In his ‘BREAKWAVE EP’ Donsurf divulges the breadth of his musical influences some of which include dubstep, breakbeat and jungle. The deliberately smooth transitions between tracks makes for a seamless journey through UK bass culture, grounded fundamentally through Donsurf’s intricate manipulation and sculpting of classic breaks with a personal twist.

We welcome @phasmidmusic into the MEFD series with open arms and twisted melons as he delivers an enchanting electro-breaks banger entitled ‘Losing My Mind’.

The song fulfils its namesake, featuring an ensemble of swirling synths and omnipresent vocal chops that lurk within the tune’s hallucinatory ambience.

Despite the contemplative and hypnotic nature of the track, its foundations of driving breaks and smooth bass never fail to deliver all the energy required to bring any room to its feet.
