A returning artist to the Meanwhile catalogue, EMPHI builds on his growing support and popularity with a brand-new twin-track EP in the form of "Walk With Me / Research Myself".

Hailing from the Swedish capital, EMPHI has lit up the world of Progressive House in the first half of the 2020s with his "tracks filled with vibrant percussion and anthemic melodies." Able to point to a growing number of blue-chip labels that have featured his work, Kasey Taylor's Vapour Recordings, Alex O'Rion's Solis Records, as well as the number 1 selling Mango Alley and iconic Balance Music, have all played host to EMPHI's production talent since a 2020 debut on Odd One Out.

Meanwhile has also been a key component in seeing the Stockholm resident soar to new heights. A pair of tracks have featured on the "Meanwhile Excursions" series with "The Box" on July 2022's Vol. 2 and "Azur" on Vol. 3 a year later. Now returning for a third appearance and a full solo EP, "Walk With Me" is propelled forward by a deep and penetrating kick. At the same time, a fizzing percussive top-line of hats and shakers provides the backdrop for a hypnotic bassline groove to anchor a series of sweeping, stereo-panned effects and vocal loop to flow seamlessly across the 7-minute piece. A catchy lead motif then provides melodic interest as it filters its way through proceedings from the mid-point onwards and into a stripped-down break. Building once more, the final movement explodes into a cadenced square wave synth that cuts through the mix with sumptuous pads adding to the soundscape.

Partner track, "Research Myself" immediately comes alive with a delicious head-shaking rhythmic pattern that creates a call and answer sequence with subtle synth placement. A chorus of hi-hats and shaker patterns adds further to the dancefloor arrangement as exquisitely placed slow attack chords and delicious effects create a hypnotising sonic collage. Following the success of August 2021’s debut compilation series, and a first volume featuring six original tracks from a stellar cast of international talent, GMJ & Matter now return with a thoroughbred 10-track sequel in “Meanwhile Excursions, Vol. 2”.

Presenting a global dance party with artists from across the continents, from North and South America to Europe, Australasia and Asia, the second instalment of the “Meanwhile Excursions” series combines an array of established talent with up-and-coming nubreed artists who shine a bright light on the progressive house genre.

Opening with the deep bass groove of “Negev”, Colombian star, Golan Zocher, and label head-honcho, GMJ, blend their talent with a delicate ambience that shimmers across its 8-minute time fame with textured pads and flowing soundscape. Mango Alley favourite, Forty Cats continues with the smooth sounds of “Mutualism” as hypnotic rhythms and bass groove propel things forwards, while Andrés Moris creates club-friendly force via “Owen’s Dream”. Full of emotive chords progressions and twinkling arpeggios, a pulsating bassline makes for a beautifully assured debut.

Redolent in intricate percussive groove and juxtaposed with sumptuous synth arrangement, Tonaco’s “Setentrional” is a rhythmic tour de force that only pauses for breath at the beatless breakdown, while Dowden’s first of two offerings is a typically impressive offering with “Halstatt” glittering via earworm motif that melds with freeform counterpoint sequence as it evolves through a flurry of white-noise fills and mesmerising presence.

A slow-burning jewel that combines strong rhythmic force with running bassline presence, “Retro” finds Ivan Aliaga showcasing an evolving melodic tapestry that waxes and wanes with ease, while “Misanthropy” is another rhythm-fuelled affair that demonstrates why NOIYSE PROJECT is a name currently on the lips of the progressive cognoscenti with his club-friendly groove and ear for melodic emotion. Moving forwards, the low-slung groove of EMPHI’s “The Box” helps to generate a brooding wall of sound that builds in tension-filled phases that rise and fall in ever-evolving synth work and stereo-panned white-noise effects.

The second track from Dowden see him join forces with Meanwhile’s other co-founder as the immaculate production credentials of Matter see beautiful piano phrases glitter across “York”, fully exposed at the mid-point where reverb-drenched and delay-soaked chords vie for space with a dynamic rhythmic backdrop and ticking hi-hat percussion. Ending as it starts, smooth melodic patterns flow from the fingertips of Gorkiz and Distro in cascading layers of dreamy sonic passages that create a coruscating mosaic of sound atop the blistering rhythmic energy of “Staring at the Sun”.

Ending the year in style, Meanwhile celebrates its 39th release with label head-honchos, GMJ & Matter showcasing a 3-track epic in “EXT 135 / Elemental / Time to Space”.

Artists who have risen rapidly to secure permanent seats at underground dance’s top table, GMJ & Matter excel within the DJ and production arenas. Responsible for some of the most intelligent and atmospheric progressive house music the industry has seen and an ironclad provenance behind them, the Melbourne based duo have been leading lights in their hometown and beyond for more than 15 years. Hugely respected artists in their own rights with over 500 individual production credits each, a century has come within their collaborative partnership.

As such, original gems have included several original EPs for Proton Music, with additional work finding its way onto the likes of Anjunadeep, onedotsixtwo and Balance Music. However, it is on Meanwhile where the Australian duo have joined forces with such style and grace. From 2020’s “Lost on Origin”, “Gauntlet” and “Eldarin” to 2021’s “The Path /Perfect Storm”, plus remixes for Alex O’Rion, Rich Curtis and Roger Martinez, GMJ & Matter have been at the vanguard of modern progressive house as they now return for another stellar outing.

“EXT 135” is a fizzing powerhouse of hi-hat percussion and white-noise fills as immaculately filtered melodies emerge from the rhythmic melange alongside a chorus of expertly woven pads. A gentle vocal cut adds a melancholy vibe as the track pauses for breath at the breakdown before blossoming once more into the second half with ease and trademark aplomb.

Continuing the rich rhythmic foundation of its predecessor, “Elemental” develops a stunning rolling cadence and swung percussion that provides the perfect platform for a warm blanket of textured pads and pulsating melodies to emerge. Redolent in delays and effects, a reverse-reverb vocal chant creates tension and variation while a simple motif holds fort in the background, helping rhythm and melody gel across the track’s duration.

The final track sees “Time To Space” propelled forwards with cavernous bass groove, ticking percussion and laser beam effects. Evolving elegantly, a sustained pad creates an Underworld-esque backdrop from which a chunky synth motif filters into sonic range before being juxtaposed by a glassy counterpoint phrase. Building through the breakdown, the tracks hits its stride once more in the latter stages with an expansive soundstage and metronomic groove.

In March 2022, Jiminy Hop released his dazzling 3-track "Johlin" EP to widespread critical acclaim. Meanwhile now revisits the EP with a remix of "Colatrix" from Australian legend and label co-founder, Matter.

Matty Doyle has been at the cutting edge of underground house for over a decade with his Matter pseudonym. A leading exponent of the modern progressive sound, his trademark basslines and captivating rhythmic backdrops have lit up clubs across the globe. Often in collaboration with friend and fellow Melbourne resident, GMJ, Matter's music has found favour among such illustrious imprints as Anjunadeep, Proton Music, Mango Alley and onedotsixtwo. Furthermore, over 40 production credits have found their way onto Meanwhile and Meanwhile Horizons, with the latter accounting for November 2011's full album debut, "Starchild".

Returning to the flagship imprint, home of November 2020's "Amanita" and January 2022's "Banksia", the Matter remix of "Colatrix" is propelled forward with a thumping kick and shaker-fuelled top line. Adding a buttery smooth arpeggio to proceedings that deliciously filters as it develops, familiar melodic elements from Jiminy Hop's track drift across the 8-minute offering. Sumptuous pads, fizzing with white-noise energy, pulsate through the post-breakdown denouement as Matter finds a way to extend the original in new and vibrant directions.

A welcome returning figure to the Meanwhile Roster, Mike Rish is no stranger to success. With numerous cross-genre hits under multiple aliases, his own name sees him reach rarefied heights in the Progressive House genre with work signed to Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Guy J’s Lost & Found and Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music.

December 2021 saw a Meanwhile debut with the sublime 3-track “Beyond” EP, while April 2023 witnessed a standout reworking of Jamie Stevens’ “Storm Front”. Returning for a second outing, his latest triple tracker opens with the funky rhythmic backdrop of “GT”. Using an intricate percussive arrangement to provide a club-friendly foundation, a swathe of stereo-panned textures and synth effects meander across the opening movements, accompanied by delay-infused vocal cuts. A smooth arpeggio adds a touch of traditional progressive drive at the breakdown and beyond, while a further synth motif blossoms in the second half to sit alongside the rasping and explosive bassline.

Continuing the effects-laden narrative, “Shoreditch Funk” quickly makes its mark with a woodblock infused percussive top-line. Stereo-panned pads and saw-tooth synths pulsate in dizzying fashion while a grooved bassline adds dancefloor ‘funk’. A cascading arp makes its presence felt, pitching in freeform oscillator glory at the break, before continuing unabated in detuned fashion throughout the second half. The result is a vibrant sonic collage that bristles with verve and innovation.

The final track witnesses another meticulously conceived rhythmic arrangement throughout “Reka”, with a subtle bass sequence providing dancefloor sensibilities alongside a heavy 4/4 beat. An acetylene-torch lead mesmerises with its glissando phrasing while a glassy motif combines with gently pulsing pads that swim enticingly in smooth juxtaposition. Revitalised after a European tour and sold-out label showcase at ADE 2023, GMJ & Matter continue to ride the crest of a tidal wave of success. Founded upon a distinctive and evergreen production sound, the duo’s music continues to make waves of its own reaching dancefloors across the world, supported by global DJ A-listers. Moreover, the duo’s output on Meanwhile has seen a raft of original work since April 2020 in the shape of three original EPs, plus remixes for Roger Martinez, Simos Tagias, Rich Curtis and Alex O’Rion. From early outings on Black Hole focusing on trance, Alex’s work for Sudbeat Music, The Soundgarden and his own newly minted Solis Records has crystallised into a sumptuous deep progressive house sound. A regular on Meanwhile with a raft of original and remix work, May 2021’s 4-track “Echium” and August 2022’s “Solis / Pluvia / Sericum” EPs have lit up the label. Following on from remixes for GMJ & Matter and Rich Curtis, Alex O’Rion now delivers a typically smooth and effervescent reworking of “Agmoli”. A chest-thumping kick and clicking top-line supply head-shaking groove as familiar refrains from the original shimmer across the mid-range pre-breakdown. Through a sublime melodic narrative, a cast of characters both old and new, showcase O’Rion’s production talents as jagged analogue synth phrases coruscate in complex patterns, interwoven with arpeggiated patterns from Jiminy Hop’s track. Full of sonic intrigue and a palette of mellifluous sequences, the remix hits glorious heights post-breakdown as the full combination of bass, rhythm and melody combine to wondrous effect.

A veteran of more than a century of production credits dating back to a 2008 debut, Kasper Koman has seen his work signed to myriad high-profile labels including the likes of Plattenbank, Anjunadeep and Guy J’s Lost & Found. From central Netherlands, Kasper has combined trademark emotion with a powerful and evocative sound that has seen his music supported by such leading tastemakers as Guy Mantzur, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J himself.

Now debuting on Meanwhile, the “Sinking Sky” opener is characterised by a driving beat and metronomic hi-hat pattern. A running 16th note bassline pattern enters the fray in the second movement with a fizzing vibrancy provided by resonating and filtered effects. A cast of additional characters add to the overall sonic landscape including a beautifully juxtaposed pad progression. A spine-tingling breakdown provides acetylene-edged emotion via the extended bassline motif, before hitting its stride once more in the latter stages to wondrous effect and no small amount of production talent.

“Biome” continues the narrative of raw effects-laden power, while a strong kick lays the foundation for a piercing percussive groove, adding swing to the off-beat. A well-crafted sonic palette supplies a soft chord progression of Kraftwerk-inspired imagination as a meandering array of well-placed effects, white-noise washes and rasping bass notes create a mosaic of sounds. The result is a hypnotic, angular offering that keeps listener interest piqued without a central melody seeing the 6-minute piece fly past in an instant.

A seasoned pairing, EANP have been powerful proponents of the Progressive House scene for a decade and nearly 200 production credits. Now making their Meanwhile debut, “The Other Side / Uncut Gems / Atoms” showcases a triumphant partnership.

Combining the talents of Ezequiel Anile and Nicolas Petracca, the Argentinean duo have been working together since 2014. Both respected DJs and producers in their own rights, they have performed behind the decks throughout their homeland alongside the likes of Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, and Nick Muir. Similarly, a sparkling portfolio has seen a plethora of original and remix material feature on the likes of Mango Alley, Juicebox Music, Reminiscence Recordings and Replug.

Joining forces with fellow countryman and legendary figure of Juan Deminicis on the opener, “The Other Side” is a chunky driving number that revels in a gently shifting percussive groove that forms a strong backbone for a series of cadenced melodic components to sit atop with majestic ease. Building a more intense head-shaking groove with every movement, effected vocal phrases add to the intensity while languid and unhurried pads add subtle juxtaposition to the dynamic dancefloor structures. The result is a stunning progressive treasure that is certain to find favour with the DJ elite.

Striding out on their own EANP continue the fizzing percussive urgency via “Uncut Gems” as shakers and closed hi-hats swing across the near 9-minute piece with club-friendly energy. A seismic sub-bass groove adds to the forceful character while Tech House characteristics shine through with angular effects and well-placed synth stab. A smooth arpeggiated sequence comes to the fore at the mid-point alongside a new melodic character as it extends into the third movement to create a hard-edged modern Progressive House jewel.

The final track finds “Atoms” creating a dominant rhythmic framework that subtly comes to life through use of a muted synth motif in perfectly metrical syncopation. A deep sub-bassline adds to the story as the track builds through its phases with swirling white-noise washes and whistling wind-effects adding atmosphere and a haunting quality. For Matter, more than half a century of production credits adorn the jewel-encrusted crown that sits atop the Meanwhile and Meanwhile Horizons catalogues that he and fellow countryman, GMJ, preside over. Now returning to the label with a new twin-track offering, Matter delights once again with “Embrace / Elsewhere”.

From April 2020’s “Lost on Origin” and December 2023’s “Stellaris / Idtritah” with long-time friend and production partner, GMJ, to solo endeavours that include 2020’s musical triptych, “Amanita” and 2022’s “Banksia, Matter has continued to excel time and again in the progressive house realm. Always at the vanguard of an ever-evolving genre, the Australian star continues to find success in the studio in tandem with global DJ performances across Europe in Amsterdam, Glasgow, London as well as festival appearances in Australia and in clubs throughout his Melbourne hometown.

Now returning with a brand-new sonic diptych, “Embrace” is a chugging rhythmic gem that sparkles with hi-hat dynamism while a lilting percussive groove and cavernous kick keep a lock-tight beat. A beautifully syncopated synth-line, textured pads and floating vocal phrases create a relaxed atmosphere, as they evolve gently into full-formed phrases at the breakdown. Dropping back in the warm embrace of the earlier rhythmic phrasing, the vocal phrasing continues alongside the ethereal melodic elements and intermittent effects.

Opening with a bouncing grooved bassline and fizzing shaker pattern, a metronomic kick paves the way for a muted synth sequence to filter into the sonic foreground with ease. A sub-bassline deeper than the Mariana Trench adds to cascading sonic landscape as arpeggiated layers, thickly textured pads and white-noise fills join together. A heavily delayed and reverb-drenched vocal reveals itself at the breakdown alongside an array of melodic sequences, before the epic groove drops back in through the third movement with the extended vocal phrase and arpeggio combining to mesmerising effect.

Back to welcome the Meanwhile faithful with a 24-carat jewel, Matter’s hallmark of quality can be found running through “Embrace / Elsewhere”.

A story that began in late-2021, Mike Rish and his “Beyond” EP ignited a spark that would go on to burn brightly amongst a galaxy of stars on GMJ & Matter’s flagship imprint. Already a regular on such celebrated labels as Kasey Taylor’s Vapour Recordings, Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music and Guy J’s Lost & Found, the Australian artist has continued to see his distinctive and mature production sound much sought after.

Now returning to Meanwhile for the first time since June 2023’s “GT / Shoreditch Funk / Reka”, “Akhnaton” is inspired by the Amsterdam club of the same name and host of Meanwhile’s debut label showcase at ADE 2023. Full of trademark character, the track is a pounding club floor-filler with white-noise back drop and chugging bassline intent. Full of mesmeric soundscapes, and cascading delays, the track builds in power as subtle melodies are introduced amongst the immaculately placed pauses that help ramp up the intensity. The result is a masterful affair.

Continuing the hefty rhythmic narrative, familiar tropes percolate around “Gröv” like a fine wine. Under a huge, throbbing backdrop of seismic beat and cavernous bass pattern, spine-tingling melodies float across the mid-range before coming to the fore at the extended breakdown. Adding to the sonic collage with a hypnotising off-beat chord motif, the track then drops back into the familiar form of earlier phases as it draws to its conclusion.

The final offering sees “Cloudbreaker” continue to push the sonic envelope with the immaculately crafted bassline extravaganza. Full of percussive intent with shaker-fuelled top-line, a richly syncopated melody captures dancefloor attention, held through a sustained bass phrase at the breakdown. Hitting its straps again in the third movement, the gargantuan groove and luscious melodic interplay break through in a stormfront of club vibrancy and brio.

An artist with a rich and impressive pedigree, Mike Rish returns to Meanwhile with a triple-tracker of exceptional quality in "Sunset on Mars / Tornn / Shokl".

A Melbourne native with a strong back catalogue stretching back over 15 years, Mike Rish's debut quickly became a starting point for a successful career, predominantly focused on the sound of Progressive House. Since 2009, the Australian has gone on to see his music featured on the likes of Vapour Recordings, Anjunadeep and Guy J's Lost & Found, while a trio of EPs for Meanwhile between 2021 and 2024 have seen Mike Rish sparkle with a collection of beautifully crafted original sonic sculptures. The compelling "Sunset on Mars" opens with a thumping beat and smooth percussive top-line before a swathe of effects-laden synths percolate the soundwaves with rich delays and reverb. A storied artist with a rich seam of high-quality releases to his name, Nicolas Rada is a welcome addition to the Meanwhile catalogue with a superb twin-track offering in the shape of “Glasgow / Riot”.

Operating out of his Buenos Aires home, Nicolas Rada has been at the forefront of the Progressive House scene for almost 2 decades. As part of the artist roster under the Analog Agency banner, Nicolas has travelled the world, spanning the continents with performances in Australia, Mexico, Ecuador, Spain, Netherlands, Hungary, Scotland, and not forgetting his Argentina homeland.

Contemporaneously, a production career has seen Nicolas Rada scale rarified heights. From early work and almost a century of credits on Balkan Connection South America, to work on Lee Burridge’s Tale & Tone, Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden and fellow countryman Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, the Argentinean star has shone brightly in the underground dance firmament with over 400 production credits to his name.

Now gracing Meanwhile with his sizeable talent, “Glasgow” is a typically powerful offering that revels in a thumping beat, off-beat hats and running 16th note bassline. Picking up the pace in the second movement, subtle melodic motifs begin to accentuate the rhythmic collage as they seamlessly develop over the 8-minute timeframe. Atmospheric pads and steam-pressured white-noise risers add to the overall feel as “Glasgow” hits its height in delay-infused melodic patterns that propel it forward to an epic conclusion.

The cleverly named “Riot” immediately excites with its complex rhythmic arrangement and bassline narrative that extends the vibe of its partner track. With bouncing phrasing, it syncopates effortlessly alongside a cascading array of melodic characters that build in dizzying fashion. Using vocal samples drawn from the classic “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” film, first used by the likes of Chicago’s iconic progressive breaks act, Grayarea, the spoken word melds effortlessly with the shimmering synth stabs and textured pads. The result is a 24-carat modern progressive jewel that sparkles from start to finish.

Back for a full debut on Meanwhile, Ruben Karapetyan returns with a twin-track offering of impressive stature as he delivers “Nostalgic Moments / Perceptual Isolation”.

Formerly hailed as Armenia’s top electronic music export back in the late 1990s, Ruben Karapetyan has continued to find himself at the forefront of the global Progressive House community with a distinctive sound palette. A double century of production credits since a November 2020 release on Tash’s Movement Recordings and the Armenian has not looked back. A host of original and remix production material has since found its way onto the likes of Paul Thomas’ UV, John 00 Fleming’s JOOF Aura and 30 credits for Mango’s top-selling Mango Alley. Moreover, Ruben has also found notable success on his own RKP label.

Opening his Meanwhile account in July 2023 as part of the “Meanwhile Excursions, Vol. 3” compilation, Ruben Karapetyan illustrates impressive flair with opener, “Nostalgic Moments”. Fuelled by percussive verve and effortless bass groove, it is certain to rip up dancefloors. Full of gravitas and a deep dark character, an increasing number of rhythmic layers add groove aplenty while a breakdown introduces increasing energy via pitched effect and snare rolls. The drop back into the earlier bass groove is a joy to behold.

The lighter, more airy qualities of “Perceptual Isolation” creates a magical touch that glistens and shimmers through the early phases. A subtle bassline sequence adds depth and club-friendly quality while the smooth melodic flourishes are able to shine through the delicate breakdown. Picking up the pace again in the third movement, a delicate and meandering acid-tinged arpeggio adds another memorable touch.

For their 75th release, Meanwhile turn to two of the biggest names in modern Progressive House as Mike Rish and Kasper Koman return to remix each other on "Biome" and "GT".

A self-styled "quiet achiever" Mike Rish has been at the sharp end of the progressive scene for more than 15 years and approaching a century of production credits. A hatful of those have come on GMJ & Matter's Top 5 Beatport Progressive House imprint, spanning a productive 4-year period from late 2021. A magnificent 12 original tracks have spanned a quartet of 3-track EPs that began with "Beyond" and end most recently with May 2025's "Sunset on Mars / Tornn / Shokl". A single remix of Jamie Stevens' "Storm Front" is now joined by a second as the Melbourne artist reinterprets Kasper Koman's number 1 selling "Biome". Creating a pounding new beat, flowing percussive groove and mesmeric bass sequence, familiar effects from the original quickly make their presence felt. Building in intensity throughout its 8-minute duration, lengthy reverb tails and white-noise effects add to the dense atmosphere before a huge, pitched note rises in the breakdown to a hands-in-the-air moment. Dropping back into familiar rhythmic territory throughout the third movement, Mike Rish's production talent is on full display.

From Utrecht in central Netherlands, Kasper Koman has forged a unique identity and reputation as one of underground dance's most revered figures. Responsible for multiple Beatport number 1s, he is a self-defined "designer of infectious beats, syncopated rhythms and impelling melodies." The resultant output is thus a "unique blend of happiness, darkness and emotions." A career spanning nearly 20 years has subsequently led to releases on John Digweed's Bedrock Records, Guy J's Lost & Found and the evergreen Anjunadeep. The best-selling "Biome / Sinking Sky" EP marked a high watermark on Meanwhile in early 2024 as Kasper returns to the label to remix "GT" from Mike Rish's June 2023 triple-tracker. Using the tribal rhythms that formed the foundation of the original, Kasper quickly deviates from Mike's work with an inspiring bassline sequence that growls menacingly across the low-end. Waxing and waning with dancefloor ease, the mid-point finds a glorious array of effects from "GT" underpinned by a metronomic beat. Reaching a rousing crescendo, a huge analogue arp builds before a snarling effects-laden backdrop drives through the latter stages.

Powering forward at relentless pace into a new era, Mike Rish and Kasper Koman discover new worlds with "GT" and "Biome".

Returning to Meanwhile after a 2025 debut, Gai Barone returns to GMJ & Matter’s label with a brand-new solo track in the shape of “Hemels”.

A central figure in modern dance music for more than 15 years, Gai Barone is a hugely respected figure by fans and peers alike. Able to point to over 750 production credits, the Italian artist has found himself at the top of the wish list of a plethora of underground imprints with his immaculately crafted sound and his instinctive musicianship. Watermarking his production work with a unique “stylistic blueprint”, Gai has seen his work allied to such esteemed imprints as Dave Seaman’s Selador, D-Nox’s Sprout, Aly & Fila’s FSOE and Australian behemoth, Balance Music.

Making his first appearance on Meanwhile in April 2025, the “Passing Over the Clouds / Soul Mistique” EP, in collaboration with Australian artists, Kasey Taylor and Wilma, saw an underground house gem take centre stage on the Beatport #4 Progressive House label. Now returning with a debut solo offering, “Hemels” is a gloriously smooth and ethereal track that builds effortlessly through head-shaking hi-hats, strong beat and multi-layered pads. A muted pluck provides exacting syncopation to match the rhythmic collage as it gently rises in prominence through open-filtered joy and cascading fills. Pausing for breath at the mid-point, a stunning array of melodic characters and effects fills the sonic landscape in delicate fashion before blossoming once more into the wonderful dancefloor cadence that showcases Gai Barone’s impressive 24-carat skillset.

“Hemels” is a heavenly reminder that Gai Barone continues to ascend to another plane with a stellar production masterclass.

Returning to production duties for the 4th release on their evolving Meanwhile imprint, GMJ and Matter present "Eldarin". A pair of remixes come from Sri Lankan and Colombian talents.

Hitting their straps on numerous occasions across a broad and celebrated career, GMJ and Matter continue to make waves in Port Phillip Bay with their distinctive and renowned musical style. Joining forces on over 50 production credits for the likes of Anjunadeep, Balance Music and Proton Music, GMJ and Matter's combined talent is a formidable force. Now reprising the success of their "Lost on Origin" and "Gauntlet" EPs for Meanwhile, the pair come together for a third time. "Eldarin" is a typically dynamic affair with all the hallmarks that have made the pair such revered names in the underground dance scene. A glorious bouncing bassline groove and ticking hi-hat percussion lays the foundation for densely textured pads to weave their way across the near 9-minute offering. Redolent in trademark delays and reverb tails, subtle motifs meander across proceedings before an extended piano sequence cascades across the breakdown. Building to a crescendo at the mid-point, a driving third movement introduces glorious white-noise washes and driving beat, combining with melodic elements to evocative and mesmerising effect.

A multiple award-winning DJ, Subandrio Sinhawansa has become a force to be reckoned with via the undulating musical tapestries that represent his work behind the decks. A seasoned traveller with performances across Middle East and his Sri Lankan home, contemporaneously, a high-profile production career finds Subandrio with over a double-century of credits to his name as he joins the catalogues of some of the finest imprints including Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital, Cid Inc.'s Replug and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music. Now making his Meanwhile debut, the Subandrio remix is a highly intelligent reworking of "Eldarin" that retains the rhythmic and bassline integrity of the original while introducing a swathe of new melodic material that bristles with arpeggiated sequences that shimmer in delays and subtle new phrasing. The result is a commanding rework that launches powerfully into the post-breakdown denouement with heavy beat and strong dancefloor character.

Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat represent another high-calibre musical pairing. From Cali, southwest of the Bogota capital, the duo has been a mainstay of the Colombian underground dance movement and beyond South American borders. With successful careers under their respective solo guises and amassing over a half-century of combined productions, Sanclemente and Dabeat have found their music allied to some of the industry's finest blue-chip imprints that include Mango Alley, UV and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden. A Meanwhile debut finds the pair on scintillating form as chugging, head-shaking rhythm creates a vibrant backdrop for fizzing white-noise washes and sweeping pads to roll across the Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat remix. Gentle melodic flourishes caress the mid-range with style and panache as they rise in prominence through an open filter that ushers in a sublime new melodic groove in the third movement alongside a high-energy counterpoint motif and striking cadence. The result is a highly original reworking with its roots firmly in GMJ and Matter's original.

Creating a new musical language, "Eldarin" speaks volumes about the talents of GMJ and Matter, Subandrio and Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat.
