MRT007 - A Bleak reality - Immoral Nature

Ryan James Ford’s productions are rarely anything other than inspired. Through regular releases on Marcel Dettmann Records, Answer Code Request and his own SHUT imprint, Ford has proved to be an exciting producer, capable of mangling sounds and styles to fit his wide-ranging musical vision.
The Berlin-based Canadian arrives on Happy Skull with a label debut that dramatically emphasizes the point. While each of the four tracks features audible nods to a wealth of influences and inspirations, the bold individuality of the resultant cuts all but renders such comparisons redundant.
For example, EP opener “Ormst Kaban”, whose wild, crashing, off-grid breakbeats and twisted, foreboding electronics aggressively spar with glacial chords and icy textures. The 16 bit arpeggio lines of 'Hobrv Kegdit' are underpinned by powerful sub-bass tones and industrial drum-breaks that merge to create a densely sprawling mass of dance floor melancholia.
This pattern continues throughout the EP, with “Slown Ridel” and “Nos Ummi” balancing skittish, noise-seeped percussion with the dreamy, glassy-eyed swell of classic ambient and pioneering early ‘90s IDM.

Following on from his first incursion on the label in 2017, ‘Enter The Fire’, and a recent contribution to the label’s thematic VA, ‘Flowers From The Ashes: Contemporary Italian Electronic Music’, Mannequin boss Alessandro Adriani returns to Stroboscopic Artefacts with ‘Embryo’ – an immersive four-track micro-odyssey spanning across jagged ambient scopes, unmapped acidic grounds and further leftfield-friendly sonic territories, opening up the path for his forthcoming sophomore LP and first ever for Stroboscopic Artefacts, ‘Morphic Dreams’.

Taken literally, the ’embryonic breathing’ or ‘inner breathing’ that gives its names to the release is a process in which an alchemy practitioner is plunged into a “state of equilibrium and harmony equal to the condition of that of an embryo in his mother’s womb”. Here, Adriani addresses such matters in his own way, translating this symbolic deployment into a tetralogy of extended droney experiments that aim to find similar balance and reconciliation throughout.

‘Elapsed Emptiness’ works a dark and unremittingly oppressive vein, slowly sinking its listener into an abstract continuum where light and oxygen have rarefied, whilst sizzling electronics and thunderous riffs roll above heads in cloud formations. Back to groovier spirits, ‘Symmetry’ breaks the bleak maelstrom-like movement of the opener, dishing out a fiercely corrosive compound of smacking kicks, hissy hi-hats and FX-soaked analogue spurts.

Cut and tailored in collaboration with Chicago’s very own Beau Wanzer, ‘Inverted Aspects’ trades the filthy filters and spacious horizontality of its foregoers for a passive-aggressive acid tech swagger that’s as sexy a circuits-strewn piece of hardware sensuality as it promises to lay waste on all dancefloors it comes across. Topping off this solid menu on a much hypnotic and resolute note, ‘Aria (New Beat version)’ is perhaps the track that best encompasses Adriani’s alchemical search for perfect body and mind concord, maintaining a precarious balance between dancefloor-optimised music and a certain spiritual freedom to dream and escape.

The common theme throughout this sampler of titans of industrial the world over, seems to be wide, slowed down melancholy. Some tracks take a floor-friendly jump, while others demand the attentive consumption of a more serene setting. These two discs are packed with dynamic, chugging, and forward thinking jams that make you mesh all things PSR is passionate for.

"Communication 87-92” is a special selection of classic tracks and remixes from those golden years. Limited edition of 500 copies on double vinyl, gatefold sleeve and exclusive sticker. Digital version packed with bonus tracks and more remixes.

Robotiko Rejekto was created in Frankfurt am Main in 1987 by RaHen and Talla 2XLC. Both musicians already worked together in the early 80's on projects like Axodry, Moskwa TV and other incarnations as part of the "Sound of Frankfurt" scene.

With the mega success of the first single “Rejekto” (1987) released by Techno Drome International / ZYX Records, RaHen and Talla 2XLC were seamlessly able to live up to the earlier success with Axodry. They used on this track some lyrics in Romanian telling a fictional short story about two Romanian musicians: Dumitru Constantin and Andrei Vasile. This was followed by other two top chart singles: "Umsturz Jetzt!" (1988) and “Confusion" (1989). Shortly after, Talla 2XLC quit to concentrate on other projects, however some also in cooperation with RaHen.

For a short period of time, Kurt Ader joined the project and with RaHen produced the album "Cyper Space" (1990) including some new songs together with the previous singles. The misspelling of the album title is attributed to a mistake of the label ZYX Records. “Injection” (1990) and "Hangar 18” (1991) were the chosen singles published to support this album. A couple of other singles, “Density / Pure Control" and “Technology” (1992) came next but unfortunately with not a major success following by a hiatus of the band.

After a long pause, Robotiko Rejekto made a comeback in 2012 with Ralf Henrich (aka RaHen) composing new music and touring intensely.
