Bruise is the brand new musical project of Christian Campbell aka Sona Vabos and Darren House aka Diesel (X-Press 2). 
 
Under his Sona Vabos alias, Christian has released House, Dub and Techno on labels like DFA, Mad Decent and Southern Fried Records, and has remixed artists including Todd Terry, Chicken Lips, and The 2 Bears.  
His music has been supported by Radio 1 (Annie Mac, B-Traits, Diplo and Monki) and DJ’s such as Kerri Chandler, Sinden, Shadow Child, and many more.  
 
Diesel, together with Rocky and Ashley Beedle, formed house music titans ‘X-Press 2’ in the early 90s and rose to underground prominence through classic tracks such as ‘Muzik Express’, ‘London Xpress’ and ‘Smoke Machine’ (Junior Boys Own & Skint Records). Gaining plaudits on the club scene with their multi-decked DJ sets and performing everywhere from Ibiza to Brazil, Japan to New York, X-Press 2 shot to fame with their Ivor Novello award winning single ‘Lazy’. Featuring vocals by David Byrne (Talking Heads) the single reached No 2 in the UK singles chart.  
Diesel is also a founding member of the jazz electronic band the ‘Ballistic Brothers’ and as a solo artist ‘Yellow Sox’ on Nuphonic Records. Diesel also presents an irregular radio show on know-wave.com as well as co-running legendary re-edit label Moton Records Inc.

Meda Fury is so gassed to welcome Silvestre back for a virtual hug and a 5 track EP of new jams and remix fire! The Lisbon boy done good has been enjoying some well earned praise for his last few releases - his '...is boss EP' on Secretsundaze, 'Girar' on Diskotopia, and 'Yeah' via yours truly. Gigs in Amsterdam, Bristol, Porto, London and Lisbon followed - including his debut on Boiler Room. For this new EP we are served 3 brand new Silvestre tracks and 2 huge remixes from one of the most respected labels in Lisbon -  Príncipe!  'Todos Bem' starts as an organ led scratch-fest, with a tight auto-tune vocal from Silvestre himself, before mutating into an anthemic/hedonistic 303 acid and whistle banger! This euphoric string-laden track equally at home in Ibiza or Notting Hill Carnival! 'Paga O Que Deves' is up next; Joao's love of grime and UK bass culture is evident from the drop, twisted synths and breaks recall everyone from Eastman to Roll Deep. On the flip we find serious remix pressure from Silvestre's friends and contemporaries - the Lisbon crew of Príncipe! DJ Firmeza is up first, pushing the tempo way up on 'Yeah', turning it into a banging kuduro rave monster, propulsive batida drums upping the temperature. DJ Lilocox follows with an intense remix of 'Demónios Na Cabeça', converting it into a percussive trancey big-room bomb. Layers of mixed afro/gqom drums follow a strict samba-like rhythm forcing hands and possibly the ceiling higher.

playing synthesizer in various bands.Astringency,features Nicolas Jorio,guitarist of the French band La Chatte,creates sorrowful
but beautiful distortions before the albums climax.

Ryota Arai a.k.a Ryota OPP is from Tokushima Prefecture in Japan. He started his career as a DJ and event organiser in 1999,
then moved to Tokyo to further pursue his musical journey,and to gain more experience.
Ryota has never sat still when it comes to working in music. From being a highly respected buyer for a record shop, remixing artists and producing his own tracks, being behind the decks at a club or on radio, he enjoys it all. He became a buyer in 2008
at the Coconuts Disk record shop in Ekoda, Tokyo,a favourite amongst collectors and DJ’s, he was trusted for his wide taste and multi-genre knowledge.
His first release was on a mix-cd called ‘Garakuta’, including many styles from afrobeat to new wave, cold funk or dub .
This widescreen approach made him a hit in the Japanese underground scene.
His first self-produced album was released in 2011 from his own label‘Future Life’.
In 2015 his first 12inch ‘Future Life EP’ was signed to the UK experimental-house label Meda Fury after a chance encounter with
the owner. Since then Meda Fury put his debut LP‘Pale Lux’out at the end of 2016.
The following year Ryota presented a soothing selection of Japanese classical music by Toru Takemistu, put together for The Vinyl Factory’s respected online magazine.
Also in 2017 he remixed a track for label mate Pletnev's ‘St. Bones EP’. Released by the Italian label ‘Les Temps Perdu’ it was played by domestic and foreign DJs.
In early 2018,he went on a European tour of Berlin,London and Paris.
He featured as a special guest African Acid Is The Future in Berlin - going down a storm with his multi-genre/bpm set.
Later he established the reissue label ‘Time Capsule’ with friends
in London. The first release came in September, curating a masterpiece album ‘Oasis’ from 1978
by Federico Mon Arduini aka Il Guardiano Del Faro - a pioneer of Italian electronic music.
Now in fall 2019 he is about to release his second album,challenging the definition of club music through composition,
whilst incorporating experimental and meditation/wellness sounds - it’s titled ‘Esoterica’.

This Lisbon native and London resident has been on several tastemakers lips for thelast year now, serving up no-nonsense but seriously fun dance. His recent artilary coming via Seceretsundaze, Diskotopia and his own Padre Himalaya, he now adds the Yeah EP to his weaponry.

The EP's title track has been the soundbed for the recent Boiler Room Festival 2019 promotional videos, sparking a huge amount of interest and ID requests, its remained secretuntil now. Add to this another 5 killer tracks of his signature sound for a truly monstrous set of club heaters!

Meda Fury welcome OL from Moscow, Russia. Following many varied contributions for labels such as Faces, Fine Grains, Phonica and Capital Bass. 
Lum Edit barges in sirens blaring, banging out machine like kick, hats and toms. The heaviest raw funk bassline is unleashed, and lumbers amongst Rap TV show samples and gunshots. Industrial gangster house. 
Around has a broken, jazzy Detroit feel. Sparing R&B vocal samples and afrocentric percussion ride the wah-wah and heavy bass guitar. 
Rimms comes straight out of leftfield, cutting edge drum machines rubbing up against Baltic art-rock samples. Its a strange claustrophobic affair with ghostly vocals. East European dancefloor paranoia. 
Myxa breaks the tension wide open, building a coiled spring of whistle-like riffs. R&B vocal snippets hype it up further before snapping and spilling its own elastic sub-bass. Fine feelgood ghetto-house action. 
Podumay's glitchy raw drums stomp forward towards all kinds of unknown sci-fi sounds and Kraut synth backgrounds. The contrast is a Detroit soul bassline and house percussion. 
Melt Down brings the tempo and mood way down to a mysterious close. The echoing sound of water and eerie isolationist synth washes recalling BOC. The beat is straight current-day Hip-Hop, tight snares rolling over dangerously low Miami-strength bass. Game over.

Meda Fury is proud to welcome back Moscow’s aka Oleg Buyanov for another EP of East-European dance floor paranoia. OL has been busy since his last EP for MF - helping to start the hotly tipped vinyl only Moscow based label Gost Zvuk (Гост Зву), as well as recent sought after transmissions on Wilson Records.

More moody, nostalgic and atmospheric than his most recent releases, ‘Jungle TV’s smudged textures occupy a similar space to the rhythmic shamanism of Hieroglyphic Being as well as the organic and hypnotic vibes of the legendary Drexciyan Other People Place project.

Opener and title track ‘Jungle TV’ sets the pace with thick bass & beats and winsome waterlogged cassette pads, radioactive shuffler ‘Hand Plant’ comes on like a lost Basic Channel cut with it’s spiralling delays and jacked loops, dubbed out minimal jam ‘Yellow Eyes’ with its pounding toms and spatial groove feels like a vintage Mood II Swing dub, closing out with 'Bandit’ displays a narcoleptic lo-fi pulse and enviable bass boom.

Such a distinctive and personal sound has been heavily influenced by a fascination with memory, nostalgia, science fiction and natural flora / fauna, not least of which are two key musical cues, Oleg explains: "Since childhood i was inspired by two different genres that are still my favorite: variations of dub music (from Jamaican to early german dub techno) and US hip hop from the 90’s. I think my music is somewhere in the middle of those two. Usually i use some hardware ( MPC / SHRUTHI XT Synth ) to make raw sketches / drafts and then i make more detailed arrangement using software."

'Jungle TV’ EP for Meda Fury could well be his finest work to date - realising all of his signature elements into one mesmerising whole.

Meda Fury presents the debut release of Malmö’s Armand Jakobsson AKA Rimbaudian. Taking his name from the modernist poet, Jakobson’s music is a beguiling mixture of thumping house, tripped out rhythmic excursions and blissed out, lattice-like synth melodies.

Jacking basement sleaze is the order of the day with opener ‘Let Me Beat U’, coming on like a vintage Trelik cut, 'Werka 8’ lightens up proceedings with a stomping beat and carefree spiralling synths that shimmer with light, ‘Holy Flesh’ boasts a ghetto drum track and dizzying flute-synth refrain sure to work dancers into a frenzy, things cool down with the mysterious, glacial pads and tuff bass pulse of ‘Hold Up Hold On’.

From a family of musicians (his father is opera singer, mother a music teacher, sister is a cellist and opera singer), he grew up surrounded with music, but stubbornly rejected formal study, teaching himself composition and production whilst at university in Edinburgh.

"I was there for 4 years, and it probably had a bigger impact on me than Malmö - It’s such a moody city, and having been a too sensitive young guy there for such a long time definitely left its traces. I can’t say how, exactly, it affected me, but i like to think of my musical career in terms of chapters, and that was the first and probably most significant one, up until now."

Walking through the city there was little which made him smile, noisy traffic roared past and the sound of sirens filled the air as the steam billowed from the drains by the sidewalk. This was what life in the big smoke was supposed to be, hectic, hazy and horrid. It wasn't a happy place but a frightening maze built up of robust concrete, iron and glass. Bars played music loudly out into the open night air as some danced in shiny windows - at least they looked happy. He sat at the bus stop and waited for his number to roll up - on the wall opposite somebody had painted some graffiti. "Life's Good" it read...

Perhaps, he smiled.

There were a lot of onlookers who looked down from the floating clouds up above. Jagged angels they were called, for they might be as likely to cut you as they would save you on any given day. Soaring amidst the blue skies they were a pearly white and glimmered in the glow of the radiant sunlight which beamed down upon earth from up above. Some had always felt that they might like to dance and fly amongst the clouds, a new life accompanied by angels and ghosts. For him, he was simply happy down here on earth. 

Bruise are set to release a new EP on Meda Fury, a duo made up of Christian Campbell (Sona Vabos) and Darren House aka Diesel (Xpress-2, Ballistic Brothers). This one is an ode to Detroit of sorts, drawing upon dusty influences from the glory days of house and techno.

Bruise, the new duo consisting of British underground upstart Sona Vabos and 90’s UK House stalwart Diesel (of X-Press 2 fame), are on a mission with their sprawling, ecstatic debut, Presentation EP. Despite occupying different niches and career points in the ever-shifting landscape of underground UK electronic music, these two clearly share an affinity in their approach to music-making; no-punches-pulled, unadulterated, classic-House indebted dance-floor igniters. 
	Case-in-point: the first track off the B-side of Presentation, “Grand Hi.” After the explosive, choir-vocals-infused A-side opener, “Jagged Angel,” and the more subdued, yet pummeling dub-techno of follow-up, “Dark Sun”, “Grand Hi’s” opening disco piano chords feel like a warm ray of sunlight bursting through the grimy clouds. What’s so remarkable about this track is how it incorporates many of the elements so commonly found in early-90s Detroit or Chicago House, and yet makes it into something other than just pure revisionism, something wholly exciting and expansive. The key here lies in the simplicity of the structure and the attention paid to each arrangement. As the piano undergirds the whole track, Bruise seamlessly introduce more and more elements, including, most notably, a Nile Rodgers-esque guitar line, swelling orchestral strings, and, of course, those crisp hi-hats that simply beg dancers to clap along while being swept away amongst the rushes of euphoria.
	With this track, the duo seems to have tapped into the essence of what makes house music so timeless. There’s not a single detail that feels out of place here, yet there is no fussiness or overwrought tinkering either. This speaks to the kinetic chemistry of the collaboration itself and the meeting of two minds on the same tireless, party-starting wavelength.

Gaining plaudits on the club scene with their multi-decked DJ sets and performing everywhere from Ibiza to Brazil and Japan to New York, X-Press 2 shot to fame with their Ivor Novello award winning single ‘Lazy’. Featuring vocals by David Byrne (Talking Heads) the single reached No 2 in the UK singles chart. 
Diesel is also a founding member of the jazz influenced electronic band the ‘Ballistic Brothers’ and as a solo artist ‘Yellow Sox’ on Nuphonic Records. Diesel also presents an irregular show on know-wave.com as well as running legendary re-edit label Moton Records Inc. He can also be found playing DJ sets at Spiritland and ‘We Are The Sunset’ parties as well as running his own parties under the name Heavy Disco.

Lisbonian, Silvestre returns to his sonic home-from-home Meda Fury for another fantastic five tracker; three originals from the man himself and two huge remixes from one of the most respected labels in Lisbon - Príncipe.

We premiere the first on the front; 'Todos Bem', which literally translates as 'All Good' in Portuguese. Whether the title doubles up as an incredibly modest description of the track or perhaps Silvestre's humble nod of approval towards his own work, it needs to be said that our assessment of this cut and the album as a whole is perhaps a little more enthusiastic. Tudos Bem, starts as an organ-led scratch-fest, with a tight auto-tune vocal from Silvestre himself, before mutating into an anthemic/hedonistic 303 acid and whistle banger. This euphoric string-laden track provides a morish listen, equally suitable for home or a dusty distant dancefloor.

Meda Fury are so gassed to welcome back Silvestre with a virtual hug and a 5 track EP of new jams and remix fire!

The Lisbon boy done good has been enjoying some well earned praise for his last few releases - his '...is boss EP' on Secretsundaze, 'Girar' on Diskotopia, and 'Yeah' via yours truly. Gigs in Amsterdam, Bristol, Porto, London and Lisbon followed - including his debut on Boiler Room. 

'Todos Bem' starts as an organ led scratch-fest, with a tight auto-tune vocal from Silvestre himself, before mutating into an anthemic/hedonistic 303 acid and whistle banger! This euphoric string-laden track equally at home in Ibiza or Notting  Hill Carnival! 'Paga O Que Deves' is up next; Joao's love of grime and UK bass culture is evident from the drop, twisted synths and breaks recall everyone from Eastman to Digital Mystikz.
On the flip we find serious remix pressure from Silvestre's friends and contemporaries - the Lisbon crew of Príncipe! DJ Firmeza is up first, pushing the tempo way up on 'Yeah', turning it into a banging kuduro rave monster, propulsive batida drums upping the temperature. DJ Lilocox follows with an intense remix of 'Demónios Na Cabeça', converting it into a percussive trancey big-room track. Layers of mixed afro/gqom drums follow a strict samba-like rhythm forcing hands and possibly the ceiling higher.
